I want to be excited and for some bits I genuinely am, the size of the maps for example. The thing is the first had DLC galore and the core game didn’t get much content updates. Fine. Developers want to continue revenue post launch and the excuse is that this lets them support the game longer. Plus we all know that this constant DLC packs is a Paradox staple.

CS:2 however is brand new, not yet released but already has two DLCs as per the ultimate version. That’s content already made but purposefully not included in the game that’s not even out yet. I just can’t get behind that and it’s dampened my enthusiasm quite a lot sadly.

I hope that they will do it similarily to Victoria 3 and release a big patch alongside each DLC that contains the main features and mechanics, while the DLC is mostly adding stuff on top of that.

E.g.: Something like the patch adds a system for industries and the DLC adds additional buildings, etc. to that system

Edit: I would prefer it to be less car-centric though. But it looks like cars and roads are going to be central to the game again.

Since mixed use stuff is purportedly in game, I’m thinking we don’t have to rely on cars as much in the sequel.

Not having mixed use led to some very North American style developments (in Vanilla) at least, since it’s impossible to create anything in Asia for example.

That does look like a mixed-use residential plot. Although it looks like it’s only for high-density buildings/zones so idk. There is going to be a feature reveal next month Feature #4: Zones & Signature Buildings where I’m sure they’ll be talking about the feature.

        +1 the less car-centric thing. I wanna build a pedestrian-only, 15-minute, walkable, bikeable city🚲

Well one can hope that is the case

I can guess what the post-release DLC situation is going to look like since Paradox is known to have a rather “interesting” DLC policy. And honestly, after playing a bunch of their games, I kinda learned to not buy DLCs and stuff like that on launch and just wait for a sale. Still, I’m pretty excited about the game since always liked city builders, so rn I’m just hoping that it’s gonna be fun.
