If it’s “reaffirming everything” right now, then what the fuck is the point of voting blue? Why would anyone vote to have their rights removed?

They can just vote third party, because regardless of who is in power the supreme court isn’t going to change how it works for a president.

McDonald’s can get a new manager, but the menu doesn’t change.

We have no choice but to vote blue. If Harris gets elected, maybe those Supreme Court reforms can go through. They shouldn’t have ultimate authority in matters like these (especially ones that take rights away from people).

Because that’s not how a democracy should function? GOP is a threat though — but please continue to yell at me with no other supporting evidence of a different solution you may have. Theme of this thread is Democrats aren’t our saving grace — which I’m not sure when I ever indicated they were.

There will be no reforms, any meaningful reform will be declared unconstitutional, you know this.

Also: BIDEN IS LITERALLY IN POWER RIGHT NOW HE CAN TRY AND GET THOSE REFORMS THROUGH WHILE HE’S STILL PRESIDENT. HARRIS ISNT GOING TO BE DOING ANYTHING DIFFERENT.

Is that not what he’s trying to do, or did I miss something? I’m pretty sure he laid out a plan or reform. I think the issue would be getting the Republicans to agree to it though (considering their majority on the Supreme Court are the ones creating these catastrophes). I also feel like Biden is between a rock and a hard place. “Presidential immunity” but if Biden used that to his advantage he’d just be belittled by the Republicans. These new rules are for Republicans and the far right only.

I’m pretty sure he laid out a plan or reform.

So you’re not even sure? You’re literally telling people Biden/kamala have a plan for SC reform but you aren’t even sure if they even revealed one? If you don’t even know what the plan is (or if there even is one) then how can you convince other people to vote for this plan?

I think the issue would be getting the Republicans to agree to it though (considering their majority on the Supreme Court are the ones creating these catastrophes). This is an art form. Immediately after telling me about a supposed plan, you proceeded to engage in damage control for this plan.

We have a plan laid out! But it probably won’t work because of Republicans!

You aren’t even sure what the plan to reform the SC is (or even that it exists) but you definitely know that it will fail because of the Republicans.

                Insane.

Why are you so angry and using ableist language against me? There is a plan, I felt I was being clear.

                  Here it is: SCOTUS Reform

“No president is above the law.” Obviously using presidential immunity as laid out by SCOTUS would go against this whole point. I agree, too, that he shouldn’t use it just because fascists want to. That would also make him a fascist.

If you were not so hellbent on belittling my intelligence, you may understand that yes, there’s no way a Dem could use the rules the far right have created for themselves — it is for them, not others.

And all of the corporations and billionaires that back them?

That’s never once been what I’ve said. I agree with you that this isn’t solely the responsibility of citizens who have no power. It’s on the people we elect to these offices.

I don’t agree that most of the Dems think what is happening is okay. I think they are just stuck in the old political mindset that doesn’t work anymore. They need to figure that out especially since we are facing what is essentially another attempted coup.

It’s too bad, gosh it sucks that we live under the control of Republicans who control every arm of the federal government.

It’s stacked because the Democrats absolutely rolled over every fucking time. When the Republicans blatantly tried to steal a seat nomination from Obama, the Democrats went “wow that is so rude” and did fuck all to stop it

They’re in power now and when all these anti queer laws started they continued to do absolutely fuck all about it

The way the system is explained in schools is sorta rigged towards people saying “oh well, the Supreme Court has the final say, guess theres nothing more he can do”. Hexbear is one of the only places on the internet where people are saying otherwise, like to the point where I half question if I’m in a cult that believes some crazy shit that isnt actually true lol, I was raised in a semi-cult so I have some warriness of that to be fair. But yeah thats just the understanding the vast majority of people have about civics. We’re taught that way. Theres really not much room left for questioning it outside of that.

Rights are still being rolled back. It doesn’t matter that “he tried” people’s freedoms are being taken away. This is extremely serious, and has zero room for excuses like you and the article are trying to make.

No one will give a fuck that “he tried” to stop marriage equality from being overturned; if it happens then he already was not “trying” hard enough. He (and Democrats in general) needs to put his foot down and start removing justices if they continue to make people into 2nd class citizens.

These rights are being led and removed by Republican states and their respective politicians. They are unfortunately doing everything in their power to ensure their ideology remains in power. They also have a mass following that perpetuates their ideology through their media. For instance, Texas has consistently refused to follow the orders of the Biden administration when it pertains to the border. What would you expect him to do in that scenario?

Shit is getting worse even with a Democrat in office. It’s not that I’ve “given up” it’s that I see it for what it is and I’m not interested in democrat gaslighting.

It’s delusional to see this as anything other than Democrats not wanting to actually deliver on their promises. They want to be the party of vague threats.

Roe v Wade was overturned under Biden.

Homelessness can now be considered a crime that isn’t immune from cruel and unusual punishments, this happened under Biden.

The president was declared immune from the law under Biden.

The genocide is quickly progressing into a regional war (which is worse) under Biden.

Food prices and the costs of living have continued to rise and will continue to rise under Biden, and he will offer no meaningful change in that regard.

These are the changes that have occurred under the Democrats.

When an executive action by the executive branch is blocked by the court, it’s because the executive is spineless. Especially when that same court gave the executive total immunity and power in official acts.

If Trump or Bush ran into resistance from the courts, they would just go around them. It’s a false barrier.

Is there a limit to how many executive orders can go out? Why not release a hundred orders? Force the court to strike them down one at a time, then release a hundred more. Actually try to fucking win for once
