Teachers/Professors
Definitely teachers. Having to teach and guide human beings who are impulsive and reckless by nature due to their still developing brain is not an easy feat. Endless patience and understanding is needed. Used to teach in a middle school and high school for three years before and my goodness, it was so difficult but also so fulfilling. It’s something I’d probably never do again.

It might just a tiny thing, but it makes me irrationally happy that an IRL friend joined Lemmy. I wasn’t expecting them to join since they seem to be aloof from this kind of stuff.
I snapped back my dislocated knee once. Thought I got high pain tolerance, but this toothache is something else. I tried Mefenamic Acid and it gives me a different high, I’ll be stickin on Tylenol for now.
This half year made me realize that I had cut off most things that no longer served me. Yung mga sitwasyon at tao na nagbigay sakin ng trauma, cause of overthinking, questioning of my self - na akala ko dati, di ko magagawang bitawan dahil it somehow comforts me, na parang naging sandalan ko yung anxiety to keep moving. Pero mali pala ako. Of course, everything wasn’t easy, malungkot pero relieving. Nakakaiyak pero nakakagaan rin sa pakiramdam. And here I am, moving forward in life while carrying just only a few of the baggages. Sabi nga nila, ang mabigat ay gumagaan kapag binitawan :")

r/NBA just re-opened. Maybe their mod positions were threatened.
Most likely, though it’s not like they needed to directly since it’s out in the open that they threatened mods of other subs.
I’m really hoping that Lemmy becomes a viable alternative/replacement in the long run. It’s so much easier migrating from instances when they turn bad vs. migrating from entire platforms, because at this point it seems pretty clear that when it comes to platforms turning sideways, it’s not a matter of if anymore, but when.
The sad thing is they’re caught between a rock and a hard place. r/NBA redditors are pissed that their regular routine was disturbed by a gesture that they insist won’t have an impact because it’s only for a couple of days (it’s not, that’s why they’re still closed beyond those two days lol), yet they’re the first to point and laugh that it accomplished nothing once it re-opens prematurely out of duress.
It’s also hilarious that the term “slacktivism” is being thrown around when the object being protested is a website. What non-slacktivist options are there?? 🤣
Right? I’ve seen the conversations over at the other NBA-related subs and it’s amusing for all the wrong reasons. Just have to remind myself that these are different people who speak out of their collective who-knows-what regarding things that they spent probably south of 2mins out of their day pondering about.
I’m absolutely disappointed about the decision to reopen, but I understand why they did it. It’s also why I’m rooting for federated platforms to work and for /c/NBA to succeed.
Reddit succeeded not just because of the platform provider, but also because of the users/mods who participated in the community. It’s a balance of effort between the two sides that one side has now devalued. Disheartening that a segment of the community doesn’t recognize this and is content with the position that’s pushed on them.
Tbf, some of the gripes make sense. Apparently they had a GDT on the sub (mods have access to the sub when closed) during G5. So their credibility and sincerity to the cause was thrown out of the window. Dapat kasi nag-Lemmy or Discord na lang mga mods, lol.
But day after day na-aappreciate ko yung value that Lemmy brings. When Beehaw defederated the other day, some of their users left and jumped to a different instance seamlessly. If I signed up at
lemmygrad.mlby mistake, I could have easily moved the community tolemm.eeorlemmy.world.Yeah, I just found out about the private game thread after submitting my reply. Big time yikes.

I was out of the house for many days this week because of other commitments. Ngayon lang ulit nakapag-spend ng time with my pets. Initially I was frustrated because there was a vehicle blocking our way when my kittens and I were people-watching, but then realized that maybe, my kitties are okay with just having my presence around 😌 They were peacefully sleeping when I was petting them 😌
