I haven’t been on this site for a while, and remember there being a lot of internal debate about leaving the US. I can’t fucking take it anymore, I’m living every day full of disgust, anger, and hatred. I don’t have to explain why to this audience.

I am not a doctor or scientist, I was a freelance writer until this last year and have been underemployed for months due to the cutbacks in tech and AI. I am neurodivergent. I was booted from my last two jobs for talking to union organizers (they had spies) and not pushing a pro-Israel narrative when training LLMs. I’ve joined orgs and protests and I’m tired. I have no faith in the western left besides just being “informed” which is literally killing me and has alienated me from all of my friends and family. I’ve met a few comrades through organizing but we just bitch and get each other worked up over the fact that we live in the 4th Reich.

I have some savings, no kids, no house or car payments. My partner is SE Asian, immigrated 2 years ago with a green card but is also feeling the same way about living in the US with the added cruelty of how bad immigrants and dark skinned people are treated here. Just the overall dehumanization to endure to survive.

Can I please move someplace and grow fruit trees and wait for the right moment to join the PeeEL*Ay.

It feels like that might be where things are heading. I do much better in the colder climates though, and it’s only getting hotter, but I might get some psychic relief even if I’m sticky and pouring sweat and have a constant headache lol.

I get that. I’m a cold one myself. I like my apartment around 10 degrees cause blankets are better than a stuffy apartmen heat. However, I would consider how.the temperature is one single problem that you can do things yourself to overcome. Here the problems are much more myriad than staying a comfortable temperature and way harder to personally handle. You’ve got a partner who can help get you in, I’m hoping you’ve been learning the language from said partner cause trying to learn your partner’s first language as well.as you can when they’ve bothered to learn yours just kinda feels like something that’d happen in most decent relationships, you’d at least know more phrases than most. If you’re useful otherwise than I’d move. I mean useful aside from learning the language cause like…don’t move to a poorer country and then not contribute and I do hold a double standard regarding immigration where I totally get if whatever south eastern Asian country you’re referring wouldn’t want you if you wouldn’t contribute. It’s a double standard that isn’t hypocritical at all, why would they want some American who wants to flee the mess they’ve made now that it’s come home to roost if they’re not gonna be useful? There’s a difference between that and American not taking people from poorer countries. Double standards are occasionally fine.

Yeah I agree with everything youve said which is why at this point in my life I am not very well traveled and haven’t considered leaving. Side note, my partner learned English and their advanced degree and career so it’s a bit different, but I will certainly make the effort if plans solidify. I will make the effort anyway but it would be motivating if I knew I was going to be there long term. I have some trade skills but my most useful contribution is living frugally and not causing trouble.
