The year is 2024… And this movie is still delightfully horrible. Apparently created just so Christopher Lambert could work with Sean Connery again.

The premise is ridiculous on the face of it, stands in direct contrast to the simple premise of the original. The real question is why do I love it?

Get it in before the calendar rolls over. Free in prime for me in the states l.

Do yourself a favour and read Roger Ebert’s review which opens as follows:

This movie has to be seen to be believed. On the other hand, maybe that’s too high a price to pay. “Highlander 2: The Quickening” is the most hilariously incomprehensible movie I’ve seen in many a long day - a movie almost awesome in its badness. Wherever science fiction fans gather, in decades and generations to come, this film will be remembered in hushed tones as one of the immortal low points of the genre.

I had this movie on VHS and I would watch it all the time, but I never understood what was going on. I always thought it was incomprehensible because I hadn’t seen the first one, but I’ve learned that it’s just an insane, silly plot

I saw all 5 Highlander movies for the first time this year and this one was my favorite by far.

The aliens send people into the future as a punishment? Then when the punishment isn’t punishment-y enough, they send goons into the further future to kill the guy?? And then when the goons point out ‘why bother? Why not just wait and he’ll die anyway?’ Also why even wait because time is apparently a pointlessly easily accessible plaything but NO QUESTIONS go to future kill old man???

    Incomprehensible, hilarious

You need to understand their mastery of time and space is linear. They can only monitor the future in real time from the past.

It’s probably more enjoyable if you haven’t seen the original highlander. The last time I decided to sit down and watch the entire series I was moderately annoyed by the second one because it had so little to do with the original. My most recently watch I soloed it and had a lot of fun.

It has fuckal to do with the first Highlander movie. Well, there’s swords and decapitation, but that’s about it.

A woman who is a terrorist trying to get Connor McCleod (of the clan McCleod) to help her save the world from his invention. From a dumpster she sees him decapitate two dudes, deage by 50 years, blow up a block of town, and so they share the 15 most passionate seconds of their lives on the stoop of some building. It totally checks out, no notes.

Just a couple of dystopian porcupine splatteepunks fulfilling their civic duties.
