I’m aware monk isn’t really great for “insane builds,” but I thought it was funny.

Homebrew is rad, homebrew options that are accidentally stronger than official options are bad and homebrew options that are intentionally stronger require one hell of a game designer to keep the game reasonably balanced.

I mean, when you condemn homebrew for being stronger than official options, please remember that the range of official options includes both 4E Monk and Peace Domain Cleric. Stronger than the former is almost a given, stronger than the latter is probably best kept on dandwiki.

I usually give a pass to LaserLlama and KibblesTasty homebrew options because they’re well designed and tend to fit squarely between the ranges provided - as a bonus, LaserLlama makes their martials way more fun for experienced players.

“Homebrew” is usually code for “rules are boring I wanna do crazy super cool shit, no I don’t give a damn about game balance.”

Plot twist: the dm homebrewed everything. Bbg is still “unrevealed” six sessions in (she is traveling with the party in disguise).

You let them take on the gods.

But you also home brew it so that they have zero chance to win, and they never try this insanity again

The monk isn’t homebrew, they just used the 1d20 in order method of stat generation. They got 18(+2)/20/20/14/20/10 and a CL feat. Honestly, MADness is only thing holding a STRonk back.
