I am utterly fucking disgusted. I’ve interned for 2 democratic members of congress (rep. Schakowsky, Sen. Durbin), I’ve been a lifelong democrat, and firmly progressive. But in light of this news, among many other straws that have broken the camel’s back, my message to the Democratic Party: I. AM. DONE.
I am not a single issue voter. I happily voted for Harris over the orange rapist. But watching the Democrats kowtow to trump? Absolutely not. Get me the FUCK off this train.
Seeing as this country is already fucked over, we need to leave the Democratic party en masse and create a new party that hasn’t been bought out by corporate interests.
Democrats have proven that they will watch the world burn if that means they can have some sort of pretend moral high ground. After the 2024 election, Democrats are proving as destructive as republicans, and we need to stand up against this. I will NOT CONTINUE TO MOVE RIGHTWARD!!! (And if your response is to tell me that now is not the right time to divide the party, SORRY TOO LATE GO BLAME PELOSI, JEFFRIES AND SCHUMER).
The political system is completely fucked. A 3rd party might help, but it seems fairly inevitable that they too will become like the democrats as financial interests and lobbying corrupt them against the will of the working class. I think going grassroots with direct action is currently the best way to both resist, and build horizontal decentralized power that isn’t prone to corruption.
- find local communities and get involved to make connections
- We can effect things drastically with a general strike. This targets the establishment’s income streams, and can bring a fascist government to its knees if done on a large enough scale.
- Contact a union and attempt to unionize your workplace so that the general strike is even more effective (plus, ya know, better pay and working conditions as a bonus!)
This method would not only work in the US, but anywhere in the world.

- Continuing to participate in publicly visible resistance demonstrations like 50501 to encourage others to stand up with you and prove to that there are millions of others who will join them in the fight. A large part of Nazi Germany’s success in taking over the country was a lack of massive public demonstrations against the new regime, making people feel helpless and afraid to take a stand.
If we put in the work, we can resist this and we can win. Look at how effective these methods were when used in Chile in 2019.. If we completely reject the political system and rebel on a mass scale, there is NOTHING they can do to stop us.
And yet some on here will scold people who couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Harris. The ratchet effect will continue until the Democrats change.
With how 2025 Republicans use DARVO, and Democrats are 2012 Republicans, they said anyone who was against the Democrats voting yes for Trump’s demands was actually somehow a secret Russian bot/paid agent, I think they’re all on the DNC payroll.
Why else would .world remove legitimate news articles about how Harris was slipping in polls, and then ban them when asking for her to fight harder? They either support Trump or are paid by the controlled opposition.

I can tell you how to change Democrats and not voting for them won’t work. You don’t have to like it, but we ALL have to live with it. It’s not just you and your principles on the line here.

If you’re actually doing something to change Democrats OR have a realistic idea of how to start an actually relevant third party in a country with first past the post voting, you might have a leg to stand on saying that, otherwise seriously STFU, I will die on this hill and come back for more.
