Columbia University has agreed to pay $200m (£147m) to President Donald Trump’s administration over accusations it failed to protect its Jewish students.

The settlement, which will be paid to the federal government over three years, was announced in a statement by the university and confirmed by the president on social media.

In exchange, the government has agreed to return some of the $400m in federal grants it froze or terminated in March.

Columbia was the first school targeted by the administration for its alleged failures to curb antisemitism amid last year’s Israel-Gaza war protests on its New York City campus. It had already agreed to a set of demands from the White House in March.

Yeah that’s pretty much proves that they’re slimy cowards. I mean we already knew that major colleges were for-profit bastards, this just adds to the pile of reasons to hate them and never, ever go there.

So who gets that money? Sure looks like a shake down to me.

Edit: I know it says federal government, but what part? Does it go to his buddies building and running concentration camps? Does it go to shitty christian schools? Where the fuck does it go?

It is being siphoned straight into the pockets of Trump and his oligarch friends. The federal coffer is a buffet to them.

It doesn’t matter, really, it wasn’t done to earn money. It was done to intimidate any other schools from allowing people to protest against the genocide in Palestine.

Trump’s personal lawsuits against CBS are a shakedown to benefit Trump. They paid him nearly $40m in order to prevent him from blocking their merger.

It’s not a bribe if it’s a legal settlement. It’s very blatant due to the fact that there was zero chance of Trump winning the case in court.
