Refreshing to see them go correct the mistakes they made in their first doc. Very strange things are happening in the world of techbros and financiers trying to ruin games.

I know they had some criticism from their first video, but I thought they pushed back against that. Is this them correcting stuff? What kind of corrections? I’m not watching this two hour video unless it’s worth it lol.

They acknowledged that their framing was biased and they didn’t push as hard on Ilmar Krampus as they should have. They admitted that, as much as they still think Kurvitz being a bad boss with the other devs at ZAUM shouldn’t be glossed over just because management was trying to use the other workers as pawns against Kurvitz, they should’ve focused more on the aspect of the story in which the financers took over the company, since that ended up being far more harmful to all the devs than anything Kurvitz ever did.

This new video focuses more on a saga that’s happening with Argo and Dora, who are a pair of writers from DE who went through a series of conflicts with the ZAUM management (after the release of PMG’s first video), then they butted heads with the leadership of Dark Math Games, which is another studio trying to make a DE successor with much of the same team. At the point when they broke off from Dark Math, they had another opportunity with Riaz Moola who is this techbro character from South Africa who is also trying to get his hands on some of the original DE talent to make his game.

IMO it’s way better than their first video because it’s all from the workers’ perspective, Argo and Dora are clearly some sorts of communists (I don’t know how you could write Disco Elysium otherwise, I guess), and they don’t really try to bothsides it as they did with the first video. Jamrock Hobo, one of the DE youtube channels that criticized the first video last year (and was addressed on this one) left a comment approving of it.

Nice! I’ll actually watch this one then, especially if it’s got Jamrock Hobo’s endorsement. I had given up on PMG ever admitting doing anything wrong when making this video.

What about Kurvitz? What has happened to him in this saga?

Still working with Rostov and Helen in Red Info (formerly Red Info Box), the video claims that they received a decent amount of funding from a Chinese company.

Argo mentions that there’s a possibility they can fight to get the world of Elysium IP into the hands of Kurvitz, Argo, and the other people who were originally involved in the tabletop sessions that birthed the world of Elysium. That part seems a lot more far fetched to me, but it would be cool if it happened.

          IP delenda est

The company in question was NetEase, and they noted that NetEase released a statement earlier this year that they were tripling down on GaaS and abandoning western studios doing other things.

Unless they full on apologise and take down the old video they can get fucked actually. It was genuinely a ridiculous pieces of corporate propaganda.

okay the first 10 minutes of this is just “We did nothing wrong, we were just doing nuance and adding stuff. You just misunderstood because you’re stupid. The only problem was that we didn’t edit the interviews as we should. We should have put the interviews with Kurvitz earlier”

No, fuck you. What the fuck is wrong with these guys?
