The article is trash. Anyone at this point going on about how China is authoritarian is either ignorant or racist. Even if the claim is true, Western democracies produce nothing but genocidal regimes and genocide abetting media and businesses. Even whatever freedoms the West claims to honour have been attacked with multiple Western governments criminalizing opposition to genocide.
It’s wild how many people still think of China as the place that makes cheap crap. This perception is frozen somewhere in the 2000s.
This motherfucker has never bought anything of of Amazon, alibaba, or temu.
I’ll concede that china may make some quality products, but I doubt they’re exporting them through the mass channels.
they are responsible for much of the pieces and parts and sometimes the expertise that make up the highest quality stuff we are used to.
the big consumer-facing brands that establish themselves seem to be top notch. their white labels in my country are sorta mid, i think its the resellers here who choose this for cost.
of course the random mass imported trinkets by the 99 cent store type sites are not really that great. plenty of decent stuff on some of them though, seems like you get a bit of everything in there.
