    So torn on this, H-1Bs where designed to fill in roles that were difficult to fill, but companies use them as a way to keep from paying proper wages. They’ve heavily abused the system, but at the same time the turnip will probably use this as a way to get tech firms to do what he wants, in a promise to wave the fee.

      They already can, but a local and well trained/vetted workforce has benefits that are worth the extra cost.

      Yep. I work remote as a contractor out of latam, this is great news for me. Once the AI excuse for hiring freezes stops, hopefully this will lead to better wages and more possiblities.

    Even Trump occasionally gets something right, just by not understanding how anything works. H-1B visas should be done away with entirely. At least this will make them more difficult to get.
