I received an answer from my city (not Montreal), their composting process don’t remove compostable bags. They allow compostable bags to fully degrade over a 12 month period. So it probably varies depending on there you live.
Greenwashing everywhere on this subject: a lot of compostable bags, coffee cups, etc are technically compostable if the municipality has the right kind of equipment. But often the municipality doesn’t have the means, or the compostable claims are bullshit in the first place.
