I love trains and would rather use then over most options for non local travel but the trains here can be fucking dog shit and are massively over priced for the service…

To be fair, 1. Yes, it exists. 2. Please direct your anger towards the source of the problem. That being, I believe, neglect and under-funding. If these factors are at fault, then they also should get under scrutiny.

BTW, on a funny note, I’ve seen a video how in the Netherlands they’ve put a whole tunnel under a highway in a single night. We need dat type of skill - and yes, money - put to rail maintenance too!.

The rural town where I grew up had passenger trains for 120 years but they were discontinued in the 90ies. My mother likes to say “when I was a kid we took the train to visit my uncle”. But now getting in or out of there requires a car.

So I had to move in a city for the “privilege” of having barely acceptable transit by European standards. And it still feels weird to take a train multiple times a week when some of my friends and family never did in their entire life.

Wait, they are not even that expensive. As a multimillionaire, I’d build a long ass luxury train and travel around with that. You can do literally anything in a driving train and never have to wear any seat belt or fear turbulences.
