“Sure, I know 40 million sounds like a lot, but they’re destitute plebs and consequently not really people per se. The financial impact will be limited to, I don’t know, Wallmart or Costco or where ever poor people shop. Just divest in time, and there won’t be any actual problem, old boy.”

    So…

    • let snap expire provoking riot
    • invoke insurrection act
    • cancel elections
    • rule in perpetuity

Do I have that right? Did I miss a step?

You know to think the funniest thing about this is, they want to rule but they’re destroying both what it is they want to rule over and the means that were used to concentrate the power in the first place. Without those two things, dominance is empty and power is without purpose.

One wildcard would be the military deciding to step in. It’s a long shot, but the senior brass seem pretty wedded to their oath to Constitution over president, if their reaction to that recent all-hands of generals and admirals is any indication.

I hope that’s the case, but the resignation of senior military members is not encouraging to me.

I’d expect there’s a lot of Trump voters in this contingent, given that the majority of federal aid goes to red states.
