I have no idea what “O livre do travalo” could mean, but to me “El libro de trabajo” seems like it’d be “O livro de trabalho” which means “The book of labor/work”.

and what’s even funnier is that we have a bunch more sounds than spanish, so even though most words are really similar, it’s harder for them to understand portuguese than for us to understand spanish

they have a 90% overlap. “O livre do travalo” = “el libro de trabajo”

I had Spanish for 3 years at school and was able to understand this!
Though that’s not because of my now non-existant Spanish skills but because like half the words here exist in English.
