Does anyone know what’s going on with anticatura? They used to carry HoM, BaM, SW and many other artisans and now they’re barely stocking anything anymore.

I must say that my last experience was very negative. Granted, it was over a year ago - but the delivery never reached me and instead of going to a nearby pickup point, it was delivered to one over 50 km away from me with short opening hours. Of course it was returned to Slovenia as I couldn’t pick it up, but never got my money refunded. I had to open a case with PayPal to actually get it back.

Seeing as how barren the shop looks now, it’s probably that his priorities changed (or: had to change) and he just sells everything off before closure. Anticatura was a one-man operation IIRC and maybe life got in his way. Despite my one negative experience, I hope he’s alright and everything turns out well for him.

Voyager now has (experimental) PieFed support, so I gladly changed back to my known Fediverse app. Still no profile editing support, but oh well…

I’m really fed up with my job atm, or rather with my current workplace. I love being an RN finally, but there’s so much annoying bullshit going on at the nursing home that I honestly consider leaving. My former classmate has already given them her notice and will change jobs by the end of this month. I probably will wait until next year.

There’s no feeling of competence forming in me since they always plan way too many other RNs in my shift and all the others act like they’re doing too much. So all the unpopular tasks are left for me to do, which I hate. I seriously don’t need my degree for sorting laundry. And while my contract is only for 30 h/week, I work way more. So much for my plan to recover a bit more with a reduced work schedule… There are some other minor annoyances that have piled up frustration in me, so I look forward to the job hunt in 2026.

And another thing I look forward to is the recent Steam hardware announcement by Valve. I already hope to be able to afford the high-end version of their Steam Deck someday, but this new box and controller also look really tempting. It’d also finally allow me to be free from M$ and their shitty service!

Definitely sounds like it’s time to find another job!

I’m definitely interested in the Steam Box, but I’ll likely not buy one for a while since I have a Deck and don’t really have too much interest in gaming on our living room tv. 🤷

Certainly an interesting device though. I also think it’s another substantial step forward for Linux gaming. Hopefully it helps make game devs take the platform even more seriously!

Yep, it definitely is the right time for it 👍🏻

The box is what interests me the most. Currently I have an Xbox Series X that I got while they were on discount - unfortunately that’s connected to Microsoft and their shady practices. Unfortunately I don’t have the funds nor the time to go deeply into PC gaming, so it’d be the perfect device for me. The only downside is no physical media whatsoever, but I fear that’s dead in gaming anyways. If I buy a disc nowadays, I have only a few hundred MBs on it and then the whole rest is downloaded from the XB Store. I’d need a new Blu-ray/DVD-Player for my growing movie collection, but that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. The Steam Deck reminds me of the Sony PSP I used to have, handheld gaming certainly would be a welcome thing in my single household again. How do you like your Deck so far?

+1 on the Linux front. IMHO, SteamOS together with distros like Bazzite, CachyOS and Pop!OS that are already very welcoming to gaming needs will probably help to firmly establish the Linux platform in gaming. I still plan to change my OS on my laptop to a Linux distro soon, even though there will be a a steep learning curve…

I love the Steam Deck. It’s a very impressive device, and ultimately is just a small Linux computer with decent specs. I don’t use it a ton unless we’re traveling, but I’ve been very happy with it.

For what it’s worth, a distro like Mint or Pop really doesn’t have too much of a learning curve as long as you don’t have oddball hardware. They’re very user friendly.
