512 GB, 1TB, and 2TB models affected.
What are they doing with 1-2-4TB drives?
Edit: AI data centers trigger HDD shortage
Ofc.
Maybe there will be boatloads of cheap drives when the AI bubble pops?
Don’t know about storage, but memory chip makers have already said they won’t boost production because they know this is ai bubble demand
I’m talking about kilemeters and kilometres of computer “stuff” now not being fueled by the AI bubble any more and will (hopefully) flow out into the second hand market.
Hopefully I’ll be able to snatch a specific Gskill Ripjaws V 64GB kit of 2 3200MT for cheap to max out my mobo 🤣
Gotta tick all those boxes!
Lol, I’ve picked a terrible time to build a homelab. I decided to bite the bullet on the RAM, and now HDDs might suffer the same fate by the time I’m ready to stock up.
Maybe it’s time to properly erase and eBay my box of old HDDs?
…nope, still only $30 shipped for a refurbished 1TB WD or Seagate drive.
I had a peek about ram, no much profit to be made yet
