And it’s really sad too, because this whole thing started over something that was relatively small, from what I remember.
Like she was lore dumping on Twitter, and part of her lore was trans-exclusive, and when people pointed this out to her, rather than going, huh, okay, sure, maybe some people are being excluded from my story, I’m the writer of the story, I can fix that, no problem, she instead doubled down.
And this made people angry.
And so she got angry too.
And now it’s the fucking Hatfields and McCoy’s all over again.
I honestly, truly, in my heart of hearts, believe she did not intend for it to go this far.
But I also honestly truly, in my heart of hearts, believes that she is not a trans ally, and she is using what should have been constructive criticism as an excuse to hate and villainize an entire minority.
And what is really and truly sad is she could still fix it with an honest heartfelt apology.
It might take a couple of pages to fix it, but if she would just say, “you know what, it doesn’t fucking matter. It’s none of my business. I’m not a trans person. I don’t have to have any opinions on them, and I don’t have to hold on to opinions I used to have, as long as they’re happy and alive, I’m happy for them”.
I’m sure some people would still have resentment against her. But something like that would do a lot to blot out the stain on the whole Harry Potter world that she has caused from her own stubborn insistence on forcing her own opinions on to other people.
Oh I respectfully disagree. This has blown way out of proportion yes - but I do honestly believe this was a mask-slipping-off moment rather than a “taken out of context” issue. She had had 1,000,000 moments to right these wrongs.
I always thought the explanation is simply that jkr is a rape survivor, and has been traumatized in such a way that she is incapable of seeing trans women as anything other than men trying to invade women’s spaces to abuse them.
It’s an unfortunate trauma response, she is wrong and this way of thinking is vile, but I’m pretty sure that’s the core of her issue and why she refuses to see trans people as people. I’m far too lazy to find any sources to back this up, I’m just pretty sure it’s what I heard in the past, and could easily be wrong.
I’m not suggesting anyone should be sympathetic about it or trying to excuse it. I just think it’s worth trying to understand why people think the way they do.
We don’t need a research paper to know she’s a vile cunt

At this point it’s just rot.

There is no excuse for bigotry. She could afford all the treatment in the world for “ptsd,” whether real or imagined. Zero sympathy

Cool, just want the record to show that vile bigoted cunts deserve zero understanding.
I think if you want fewer “vile bigoted cunts” in the world, it helps to know why they think the way they do, and how they got to be the way they are.
ok?
Sorry, not sure how to dumb it down any further.
what was the trans exclusive lore dump in question?
If all we ever had to go on was the bare minimum surface level stuff, the world would be run by autocratic self-involved windbags.
More information is Never a bad thing, just often an uncomfortable thing.
