    I thought this was at least semi-common knowledge.

    This goes for your film DVDs too! It’s really a shame.

    They degrade in 10-15 years. That’s if you keep them in the box, otherwise, about 2 weeks as far as I remember.

    I must have a perfect environment because DVDs I made 20 years ago still work. In my entire life I’ve probably had less than 20 become unusable. And I’m including ones that got scratched. If it was limited to actual disc rot it’d be in the single digits.
