To be honest, it’s pretty remarkable that zero people who were Jewish were murdered over a whole year.
So some quick google-fu puts Canada’s Jewish population at 1% of the total (400,000 people), and the Canadian murder rate at 1.91 per 100,000.
So either 7 Jews were murdered, and one severely injured, or Canada is particularly safe for Jewish people.
Maybe they were riding bicycles and the statistics are categorically-bound.
Skewed again when you learn there’s just one anti-Semitic guy who also really hates bicycles
Georg at it again.
Antisemitic anticyclist Georg lives in a cave and eats 1000 bicycling Jews every day and should not have been counted
He specifically hates jews on bicycles but it’s hard to tell whether or not someone is jewish when they’re cycling, so it’s kind of random.
Dammit Doug Ford!
I’d factor in the circumstance of their death. I.e. was the fact they were Jewish a factor in their death.
Same with the cyclists: how many were no-to-little fault on the cyclist’s part.
Sounds like a conspiration
I don’t think Canada publishes homicide statistics based on victims religious identification.
But how many of those cyclists were Jewish? Checkmate atheists.
Well 0, otherwise the counter for Jewish people would have said it.
But how would we have known if they were killed for being cyclists or for being Jews?
Came here to post this!!!
Me at any conversation since I’ve taken up biking.
To be a cyclist, and not proselytize it constantly, is not truly being a cyclist. ;-)
(Also you have to be red-green colour-blind, but maybe that’s just here)
some of us just ride our bikes and don’t have a victim complex about it or make it our identity.
crazy idea, i know.
I find it correlates strongly with how many times I have been told that I need to learn to drive recently.
Leave me alone! I don’t need to drive and I would rather save the thousands it would cost. I could spend that on ingredients to make cheesecakes.
oh you haven’t been assaulted yet? lucky you.
my favorite part of cycling is when other cyclists assault you. that’s my favorite
Not noticed much aggression from anyone on a bike. Had a few car drivers shout bullshit before.
we have lots of bicycle traffic in my city. people behave the same way on bikes as they do on cars.
every single day I bike, someone is going the wrong way, screaming at other people, texting/phoning, cutting corners, running lights/signs, and slamming into peds/cars/cyclists. typically at least 2-3 times per day I commute to work I see these things. it’s just as bad as shitty drivers doing the same things. but it’s not like anyone is ticketing anyone for being a law-breaking shithead anymore in 2026.
being a on a bike doesn’t prevent you from being a ignorant entitled asshole, but it gives a lot of ignorant entitled assholes victim complexes they use to justify their shitty behavior and feel like they can never be at fault. seen a cyclist blow a light, slam into a car, and then proceed to assault/threaten the driver, and bike off. then they are probably on social media screaming about how a car came out of no where and tried to kill them…
I don’t like this
Me neither. I feel like this is skirting the rule for an archived link of the real stats. It also seems targeted. Not sure of what to do about it.
I don’t like Zionist or Israel. But these Jewish jokes aren’t funny to me. Especially being a marginalized person myself. I don’t even like white people jokes like this. It was cute 10 years ago, but today’s environment, it just fuels too many flames.
The commenters seem to be awesome as usual though. I’m open to suggestions. Maybe I should just sticky a note or something. This one is weird.
I would lock it. Between the meta screenshot and the silly argument idk if we’re gonna get anything good out of discussing this.
I’ll see what other people think and then probably do that anyway. There are a lot of upvotes about not liking it.
ride your bicycle to synagogue and you might like it.
I dont think any jews have been killed in my country in the past couple of years (not including random accidents)
But i have read news several times of jewish people being harassed, threatened etc and theres also been vandalism on jewish graves
Remember that news prints or shows whatever drives engagement, for ad revenue. This motivation will cause it to amplify some content types over others, which means some stories never get out because they’re just not popular enough topics.
“You want me to get worked up because some kid spraypainted a swastika somewhere?”
stop calling these bike lanes and start calling those car ghettos
It’s like Sheila Broflovski said - aside from what they’re doing to Palestinians, Israel is making life for Jews around the world impossible.
