Saw this right next to the garden and he let me get a close in picture of him. Looks like a black soldier fly but hard to tell. Estimated to be about 2 to 3 cm long.

I have BSF farm to make chicken snacks for my hens.
Any carcasses, roadkill and food scraps that don’t go in compost gets put in farm.

Circle of life indeed. Pretty close to the insect equivalent of a vulture. I hear the flies are actually pretty tasty to eat but yah, I have not tried that lol.
