You gotta climb the walls! Why would they charge out and attack you when they have the advantage?
i just set all the gatehouses on fire with my least valuable units, sometimes the nearby wall sections catch fire too, and the explosion of soldiers and fiery wood shards is always satisfying
I just had a flashback to a shitty apartment, a blossoming alcohol addiction, and watching the last 100 arrows fall around the 12 remaining soldiers of the only unit who could damage my guys.
Hey me too! Then I worked out the game was still fun even without the alcohol. I like it when you have super accurate archers when they only have like 12 guys left because they just get pin cushioned. Ashigaru archers are pretty awful though.
I played so many hours on there. There was a mod that added all the historic provinces and factions so there were something like 120 territories on the map, I made a coalition of at least a dozen factions with the goal of eradicating Christianity from Japan and uniting everyone. There was another mod that made diplomacy better so the coalitions would actual last. And one other that made each turn one month instead of one season, much more immersive with all these. So much better than vanilla even though I enjoyed vanilla a lot too. Glad to hear I haven’t missed out not playing the new ones.
CRASSUS YOU ASSURED ME HE WOULD RUN OUT OF ARROWS
YOU FUCKING SHIT CRASSUS I WAS TOLD HE WOULD RUN OUT
We need an Empire 2. God that game was fun
Honestly Empire is an incredible learning tool for communicating why line infantry fought battles the way it did. I only messed around with it for a couple hours and, for real, I didn’t understand 2 centuries of European war until I spent that time with empire.
I’ve been paying Napoleon with Darth mod. 500 man militia units are a hoot
I play Total Warhammer and knock down the walls with ogres :)
