Context is this issue at neovim [dot] github [dot] io: https://github.com/neovim/neovim.github.io/issues/501

The neovim website has an impressions section, under which there’s an impression by DHH:

"Full-screen Neovim looks cool as hell!” — DHH

Multiple people want that quote removed.

For those who don’t know, DHH (creator of the Omarchy Linux distro) is seen as a problematic individual by many in the Linux & OSS community:

DHH is a moron who should be ostracized from FOSS, 100%. However this was an intentional brigading attempt which succeeded pretty well. Not sure why justinmk didn’t just instantly ban the person making this issue and nuke it from the face of the earth. People saying that they are going to move from neovim probably weren’t even using it in the first place and those that are, are probably bullshitting. This is like the 5th time this has happened in FOSS, I thought people would be wiser to just ignore people when they scream about this shit?

Seeing how hard he is working NOT to remove the quote, makes one think that he actually supports DHH and with that, NVIm is uninstalled from my PC.

The best thing is that the quote is extremely stupid.

"Full-screen Neovim looks cool as hell!” — DHH

Genuinely who cares that any douchbag said it looks “cool as hell”? They’re legitimately embarrassing themselves.

I’m hodling, it might just be contrarianism. Really hope this won’t push them further into DHH corner too, neovim is like the only thing I cannot imagine replacing.

Tbf I’m not a huge NVIm user, I use it occasionally in terminal. Most of my work is done in Emacs and I can’t recommend something like doom Emacs enough for beginners.

neovim will most likely survive with possibly a few forks that will die out and some people might move. I already am on helix, so no need to move yet.
