Dropped it from waist height in parking lot. Surprising how less durable this year’s iPhone is. My Xs and 13 Pro fell so many times with much more heights but only scuffs and dents. It seems to be the slight curve at the edge of the glass is causing the glass to be weak.

My understanding is that this early in the cycle it will be new. I recently had to get a replacement for my 15 PM and it comes in a plain box but is brand new and was manufactured a month later than my other one. Process is smooth af too as long as you don’t mind having a $1200+ hold on your card until they receive the old one. Mine wasn’t damaged, had a hardware issue, and since I have AC+ I didn’t have to spend an extra money for the service either.

Working for Asurion at one point, if it’s in America and they got the “insurance” through the cellphone company the answer is yes. I’ve never seen cell phone company insurance give anybody a new phone. Idk about insurance from Apple.

They give you a new device on a plain white box if needs to be changed or cannot be repaired… at least that’s how it was for my AirPods with applecare

it depends on where it impacted. Phone glass is typically very resistant to head-on impacts but very fragile when the edge impacts, which looks like is what happened here.

A phone with protection won’t survive an active volcano either. This phone merely slipped out of a pocket a few feet from the ground.

You do realise not all drops are the same? One phone coming away with less damage than the other likely has nothing to do with build quality. It’s just how that phone landed.

I’ve dropped one phone four inches on a table and it shattered.

I’ve dropped another straight into concrete from 3 feet the day I bought it by being too excited and opening the box as soon as I left the store. It had a minor scuff on the chassis.

I was with my brother when he went to pick up his iPhone 7 at the physical Apple Store. First thing he did and taking it out of the box to to set up an iCloud transfer from his old phone was Butterfinger and drop it straight to the floor. The look on his face! The Apple Store guy was a total bro and without missing a beat he said “it’s OK, sir. This is a safe place and if there’s anything wrong with your phone I’m just going to assume it arrived damaged and was like that before you dropped it.” But the phone was fine.

    how less durable

SMH. Glass is glass. You were just lucky with the previous models. The glass on the XS was actually curved and the 13 Pro just had corners instead of bevels on the frame. If that’s a 15 Pro, the display glass is still flat. It’s just the frame that has a slight bevel to the edge for comfort in the hand.

My 15 PM got dropped from eye level on concrete flat on the screen and didn’t crack + only got two small, barely noticeable scratches. Every drop is different

I know it pains people to hear (I also have a 15 Pro Max), but it actually is less durable than previous iPhones. That’s the facts.

Last night I was high af and I dropped my 15pm twice on the concrete floor at the park. Luckily only tiny scratches on the side titanium rails.
