I was online with Apple Support for an hour and a half. My AWU has been having sudden dramatic battery drainage periodically.

We tried to do a diagnostic three times and it couldn’t complete the diagnostic at any point. It’s been getting hot to the touch when it charges.

My phone is on os17.1 and my watch is on 10.1.1. I got the watch in early October this year (upgraded from a series 3). I’ve liked it a lot until the battery failures.

Apple support kept asking if I got it wet. I don’t shower in it and I don’t swim. I take to my Apple Store today, but does it sound like it’s toast?

I get the impression that Apple isn’t thinking it’s a software issue. Any thoughts or advice for when I take it in today?

It’s kinda funny, that they ask you if you got it wet. It’s the Ultra, it’s literally made for diving, lol

If you have a real issue they will replace it and most likely a refurbish one cause you out of the grace period.

I bought it from Costco and I’m within my 90 days to return it. I’m thinking about returning it and starting fresh with a new watch.

It stinks. I don’t shower with it on. I never had an issue with my series 3 and I believe I’ve been more careful with the AWU.

Apple Watch support told me to update to watch os 10 which I really didn’t want but since then this bug didn’t happen again (before it happens like every two weeks). But you already updated so maybe try to remove and pair the Watch again?

Did you get it wet? Answer “Yes: it’s supposed to be resistant to 130 feet of depth, in the ocean”. What a dumb ass question by them.

I had the same problem. I eventually found that a podcast was trying and failing over and over to download. I just ended it in the Watch app and bingo, it was fixed. Took me about a day altogether to figure it out. Hope this helps.

Yeah I’m giving it a couple of days more and if it’s not improving I’ll go Apple care route
