I accidentally got banned from a Lemmy community and I’m truly trying to be as reasonable as possible so this is some touchy stuff because it’s horrible & true — especially if one on your relative perished in the Oct 6 surprise attack at the concert. Please don’t ban me but some of us have relatives that were killed in the attack and so… it’s horrible and true.

I’ve been banned from some random communities for pointing out that people are fully supporting Hamas, or just being brutally Antisemitic. This vileness is everywhere you look right now.

You weren’t accidentally banned. Just saying.

Hope you and your family are holding up okay. This is a shit time.

It’s not self defense. Your relatives were sacrificed by the Israeli government to create a pretext to commit genocide against Palestinians.

Israel bombed hostages, hospitals, refugee camps, and buses full of children, If What Hamas did was terrorism then what Israel’s doing is also terrorism.

There really is no way to bomb hospitals and then blame the hospital for being a human shield when it was your bomb that murdered those children.

In a just world there will be a reckoning for the government of Israel, and it involves sending a great deal of them to the Hague where they will hang until death.

So when Hamas guns down Israeli civilians that are not next to military targets it’s justified and actually the fault of the jews, and when Israel strikes Hamas military targets that are deliberately placed next to their own civilians it’s never justified and the jews hould hang?

        Very cool.

There really is no way to bomb hospitals and then blame the hospital for being a human shield when it was your bomb that murdered those children.

What do you realistically expect armies to do when their opponents place all their military assets next to civilian targets? Just give up and kill themselves?

Those are the only two options I guess, indiscriminately murder civilians and blow up hospitals or suicide.

That’s obviously the only option out there.

You’re the only person saying " the Jews should hang" I’m saying people who commit war crimes should go to the place where the world has decided to try war criminals and then they should punish them like we have punished war criminals in the past.

We hung Nazis we should hang Netanyahu, they’re the same fucking thing.

Those are the only two options I guess, indiscriminately murder civilians and blow up hospitals or suicide.

Feel free to share your operational plan for how the Israelis should proceed, I’m sure it will be very realistic and grounded in military reality.

I’m saying people who commit war crimes should go to the place where the world has decided to try war criminals and then they should punish them like we have punished war criminals in the past.

So you’re obviously also saying that Hamas should be hung from the neck until dead.

Attacking a hospital containing active enemy combatants is not a war crime. Garrisoning troops in a hospital is a war crime. Not making necessary precautions to move civilians away from the combat area is also a war crime.

Deliberately harming civilians is a war crime. Harming civilians by accident or as a byproduct of necessary military action is not a war crime.

Give the Palestinians the rights they deserve, stop oppressing them and Hamas magically disappears.

There’s just no guarantee for that specific outcome.

Look what happened with the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Nominally, the Taliban were fighting the Western oppressors. But when U.S. troops left, the Taliban didn’t just magically disappear.

For that matter, look at Saudi Arabia or Iran or Qatar or Dubai or Abu Dhabi. They’re essentially doing the exact same thing as the Taliban, just with a lot more money. No outside oppressor there.

Given that Hamas shares a lot of the same ideology when it comes to ruling Gaza, what makes you believe they would just magically disappear? Why wouldn’t Hamas want to rule Gaza like the Taliban rule Afghanistan, or like the House of Saud rules Saudi Arabia?

        12,000 Gaza civilians… so far.

And just to add, Israel could have used this event to strengthen themselves on the world stage, to instead use covert systems to do their work (since they appear to have had been doing zero of that) instead of flattening city blocks and be internationally recognized as being under attack, worthy of those Stars they so brazenly wore, and Hamas being denounced worldwide. Instead they have become the bad guys, falling right into Hamas’ hands.

That’s because the goal was always genocide. The Israeli government needs Hamas to justify their genocide. They could have handled things more elegantly but if they did that then they wouldn’t have gotten to murder thousands of Palestinians. They aren’t falling into Hamas’ hands; they are using Hamas as a tool to justify a genocide that they have been working towards for years now.

Israel has the military might and the control. They’re running the world’s biggest open air prison.

By now, this conflict is ABSOLUTELY on Israel. Completely. Yes, they might still get attacked, but then it’d be a sovreign nation being attacked by terrorists instead of involuntary prisoners lashing out.

Israel is fully and completely responsible for those 12000+ civilian deaths in Gaza. Period.

Dont tell Hamas about this they will say israel forced them to do it by starving two million people in a concentration camp and killing them every time they tried to peacefully protest so violent resistance was the only option they had left.

Hamas killed 29 children on Oct 7 of which we got 1 baby in oven report without evidence.

So far israel has killed 5000+ children

Unless all the JDAMS israel throws on refugee camps are FDA approved child-safe it’s pretty easy to figure that israel has burned and suffocated FAR more babies and kids than Hamas.

Israel is like Super-Hamas when it comes to killing babies and children.

2.4% of the Oct7 deaths were children so it doesn’t look like Hamas were targeting them. If anything this number suggests Hamas mostly avoided killing children since 28% of israeli population is under 16 https://www.statista.com/statistics/526596/age-structure-in-israel/

Hamas is a bunch mediocre trained dudes with RPG’s and AK’s. If you do the violent resistance thing with guns in a civilian area then kids are gonna get hit. That and the israeli Hellfire missles that blew up the Kibbutzes afterwards might have burned some extra kids

You seem to be missing the entire point of the post that it’s not okay when any party kills civilians.

If Hamas kills children it’s unjustifiable. If israel kills 200 times more children than Hamas it’s also unjustifiable.

To which I say surely there has to a more discreet way of getting to the root of that problem than bombing thousands of innocent civilians. Their ends absolutely do not justify their means.
