I’m on a visionary account - how can I access this beta?
Found the link to download the beta for visionary users:
I’m pretty glad I am leaving Proton at this point. This is yet another feature I won’t be able to use. I get that I am in the minority as a Linux user but there are still known issues with their existing apps that they haven’t fixed either that also affect me. It’s pretty clear to me at this point that I am not supposed to be their customer.
Update: Seems I was wrong about my main point, however, I still have issues with many of their existing apps, still can’t use the Drive app on Linux, and I still think their priorities are mixed, so I stand behind my sentiment. I am also not the only one who is disappointed with the direction they have been taking.
“We’re working on a Linux version that will be available in early 2024.”
Linux isn’t supported for their drive stuff likely for the same reason Backblaze’s BB-Personal programmer said they won’t even though it’s easy. Linux users tend to be more of power users and data businesses thrive on people using less than they pay for (800gb or less for BB).
I would like to see more Linux love as well. I think both companies could be more transparent and even if Linux were treated differently, having options would be cool.

Same. Terrible linux support for their vpn (on top of all the obvious issues it has, it also requires networkmanager which I don’t use, and iirc doesn’t support ipv6) drove me away, tuta has been much better imo. Especially since tuta on android doesn’t depend on google play services (proton mail does), which should be basic functionality for a privacy focused service
Good to know that Tuta is good. I went with Skiff for now, but I will keep that in mind if I have any issues. Thanks!
Yep, and mullvad vpn has been great on linux, plus they support ipv6 which imo should also be basic/minimum functionality for a modern vpn service
you could be the only one and that would be completely valid :p
yeah i’m also very disappointed with linux support on the VPN end, that client is wack!
I think I like the bridge approach more. Let me use my own client for mail and calendar etc rather than these siloed apps.
I fully agree with you. Especially since Proton will never implement all the features that Thunderbird offers.
this is something I suggested to them over on reddit.
