Thanks for subscribing and bearing with the awkwardness of renaming over the next week or so :)

    Congrats!

I’m switching back and forth between wefwef and Memmy and I wish you the best!

Still hoping to customize swipe actions and a read indicator. The latter is already nicely implemented in Memmy.

I’m very excited about all the development of these apps. Thank you for all your hard work!

I love the new app name, thanks for helping me not need to type WefWef except for this one last time. You absolutely rock!

You guys also fixed the long post bugs today. Totally impressed.

I’m glad you appreciate that bug fix! It took all day to fix.

Web apps controlling on-screen keyboards cross platform is really difficult, unfortunately!

Really do think you’re closest to Apollo. Think only haptics is missing and that’s crazy given how short of a time you’ve been at it. Great work!!

I have the latest and I don’t feel anything. Weird. Maybe I’m missing something? Like typing right now I feel the keypad haptics but bot when I interact with this app.

There is a point because its much easier to get people to start using an app they can get from app stores. Also lots of apps are built as web apps regardless

Again, most people browse through apps and find apps on the App Store.

It’s pointless to pay to get on the app stores when the apps work perfectly fine as a web app. Also most people will eventually find out about wefwef/voyage since it’s getting recommended everywhere.

It really doesnt matter if its pointless or not. There is a familiarity with App-Store Apps, PWAs are a “new” concept for the vast majority of people. While they exist for a really long time now, almost nobody uses them.

It’s mainly the fees that both the google play store and Apple App Store charge, I’m not sure if the developer is willing to pay the fees. Also the dev would have to put the app in a wrapper which isn’t worth the effort and Lemmy isn’t mainstream so they wouldn’t be loosing any traffic or money

What made you switch the name? I always felt wefwef pretty cool and less risky to run into copyright/trademark problems than with your new name.

However: Fantastic app, I will stay!

Went to wefwef.app, started using it on iOS and added it to my homescreen. Turns out, the name was voyager instead of wefwef. You can imagine I was very confused about it before doing some digging.

Thank you so much for allowing blocking of communities and fading post that I’ve already read. It’s incredible how quickly you’ve given us updates and made Lemmy my go to over the last couple weeks. But the last couple updates have been amazing!

You guys are kicking some serious ass with the updates and features.

I moved back to android off ios and the only real app I missed was apollo, so this is really scratching that itch!

I am still looking forward to sync for lemmy, but honestly with the rate that this is being worked on with this passion, I may just have to stick with weyager

And I still can’t log into my lemmy.world account through this. Still not a big deal since I’m waiting for sync, but I don’t get it. The same credentials work everywhere else.

By the way is the name referring to a certain star trek movie?

I don’t have any issue on iOS/Safari for lemmy.world, what’s your OS and browser?

The name is a reference to the NASA missons (Apollo > Voyager), which is also referenced in Star Trek so it’s related in a sense.

I tried on android with mull browser and chrome and windows with firefox and chrome. They all say my password is incorrect, but going directly to lemmy.world works fine.

And yeah I’m aware of the apollo/voyager connection, but the character specifically refers to itself as “VGER” like vger.app. That’s why I thought of star trek.

Wefwef recently bugged out on me where I couldn’t log into any instance or view any posts. Is this the same issue you’re having or no? I had to delete the PWA, then navigate to my browser and delete all of the saved site settings for wefwef (or Voyager now). Then I was finally able to load the site again and log in.

What I occasionally have issues with in Voyager/wefwef is that I randomly cannot post comments because it asks me to select a language. My language is set to English in my profile, and no amount of fiddling with the setting seems to make the app function. Other times it’s totally fine so I don’t get it.

I don’t think this is the issue. I can view posts. I’m greeted by a terrifying picture of Zuckerberg when I visit. And also I have the same problem on browsers I’ve never even used, like when I tested chrome. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love this web app but it keeps freezing after doing the side swipe gesture to go back to the main feed. Does it only happen to me?

Honestly, the name was a big reason I downloaded it, along with how active the developers have been. I keep forgetting the names of the other apps. Wefwef stood out, along with the cute mouse.

It seems like the users are happy with the name change, and I’m excited for the devs to be working on their finished concept.
