This is really annoying. Does anyone else have this problem?
I have an eye on this issue. I can’t reproduce it myself, but I will have a few additional devices for testing this week.
Also a major mitigation would be if it redirected you to the page you were on, ideally with what you had written already filled in, after you log back in.
Better yet: if logging in was just a detour to submitting a comment or post. So if you try to post something and you’re not logged in, you get presented with the login screen, put in your login information, send, and the post you were trying to make gets posted.
If it helps, I’m on Firefox desktop (Linux).
Chiming in to say this is my case as well.
I’m on Chrome on two different desktops with most recent windows; I’m getting booted out every 5 - 15 minutes. I had assumed it was deliberate and was eventually going to ask if maybe the timer could be made a little longer.
Generally speaking, the logout timer is shorter than it takes to read the comments section and write anything longer than a paragraph.
It seems connected to “idle” time - I’ve never been booted out while browsing, but if I pause or do something else I will generally come back to having been logged off. That said, I don’t generally browse for 15+ minutes straight, so much as in couple-minute sprints between tasks at work.
For instance, it happened in between logging in to load this thread, reading what everyone else had to say, and posting this comment.
I have a solid repro:
-
Sit on a page for a long period of time without other activity (for example, minimized web browser for 30-45 minutes)
-
Interact with a post by hitting the upvote or downvote button
I’d imagine some session token is expiring and when you send the request for the upvote/downvote it rejects the call due to an expired token. Then the page refreshes and logs you out. Pressing the home page again will auto-log you back in.

It only happens to me when I don’t tick “keep me logged in”, if that info helps.
I’ve done this and it has not helped, unfortunately
Yeah, this frequently happens to me on desktop and mobile. It’s pretty annoying.
I had this issue with the PWA on mobile until I selected ‘Remember Me’ on logging in.
Found this post searching kbin.social to see if anyone else has this happening too. It is impossible to submit a meaningful comment without getting logged out.
It didn’t log me out but when I submit a thread or comment sometimes the “Add comment” button doesn’t “catch” the first time and I have to press it again. It gives me anxiety that it’s being submitted twice, fortunately so far that has not happened yet.
This exact issue happens to me too on the PWA
On Chrome/mobile, select the “Remember me” field before entering your account username and password. If you do the opposite, it’ll start auto-signing you in and ignore any action you do after (like checking that box).
So far now. Let’s see if it happens with this comment. Edit: Nope!
Using FireFox with more-or-less default settings and no addblock/etc. addons/extensions

It started doing it to me on the Chrome PWA after the last update but I’m not sure if it is a result of the update or the fact that I started turning on screen auto-rotate in android settings at the same time as that update since it STOPS the PWA from rotating the screen when auto-rotate is on. I also can’t stay logged in even if I am fast enough to check the stay logged in box while on mobile. As soon as I enter my password it automatically logs me in without me hitting the login button.
I haven’t had it happen on desktop Chrome. I am running two scripts on desktop and none on PWA. Desktop is running; Kbin enhancement script and Kbin Usability script.
No issue here using desktop Firefox.
Constantly.
Also, it says that there are 15 comments here but none are shown.
Similar experience at lemmy.world on jerboa app. Had to sign in several times for it to catch.
I don’t know if it’s related, but I recently changed my password. Always log in twice (once on computer in Chrome and another in Brave phone app).
=/ dunno why it keeps logging off every few minutes
