I swing violently between whimsical and cynical. This bio should suffice for both.
The Left got a little too PC so I changed all of my opinions about the economy, social issues, systemic racism, health care, and history.

Music has always been heavily influenced by the physical spaces it occupies and the people who occupy that space. From classical symphonic music to EDM to stadium rock, all music relates to these spaces and adapts to the experience of their audiences. And the modern space is, disproportionately, headphones. And the modern audience is, disproportionately, a single person.
In other words, nearly all the modern music you listen to was created as an expression of capitalist atomization.
I don’t know if this is historically what happened, but it seems like Jack Kerouac contributed a lot to the whimsical way we see hobos. Maybe Harry Partch, too.
Nobody important died. Every suit out the window a tragedy.
How the hell was he ever allowed to make a Hollywood movie???
Uzmi pare, comrade
Oh for sure
Okay but their intentions weren’t being translated in a State Department press release and published on NPR so how was I supposed to know about it?
Didn’t someone here yesterday say they wanted to move from India and refused to consider the US because it was “a war torn nation”?
:data-laughing:
They do appear to have fascist dogwhistles on the list
Methodological Notes: Activity levels are defined as the % of posts with at least one key word, phrase, or stem identified with particular themes. Because the study of language and ideology is a key aspect of the larger project, results are limited exclusively to posts with at least 50 words. The complete list of current platforms from which forums were selected can be found toward the end of this document. A user’s manual and program code can be found at https://www.rogersperspectives.com. Any corrections for errors will appear in next month’s report.
I’ve been looking through the resources on his site but can’t find the list of keywords he uses for this site. Anyone more familiar with computational statistics wanna give it a go?
Nope
We just call them cans. I’ve never had to call them wheelie because everyone’s cans are wheelie like this.
Although smart people don’t tend to believe outdated race science either so I guess that’s pretty self-explanatory
Conventionally intelligent people are actually more likely to believe race science because they’re more likely to have fringe beliefs in general. Turns out being good at manipulating logic makes you good at deluding yourself, too.
I know this wasn’t the point of your post, which I agree with in general. Just a common way for us to slip into the mindset that rationality is a trait rather than a skill which needs to be consciously used.
Maybe someone can dig up sources. I don’t have time to atm. But piracy increases media consumption and those who pirate are also more likely to buy.
Anecdotally, if I pirate a game and don’t enjoy it, but it was a more indie title, I’ll still go and buy it if I have the money.
One time some dude at a bar was giving me a hard time for “not supporting devs”, so I looked up one of the pipeline artists for the corporate studio on LinkdIn, asked for her Venmo, paid her the MSRP for the game, and then showed the guy. I said, “and none of that went to the executives who didn’t do the work, so in a way, I’ve supported this game more than you ever have.” And of course, he still thought I was an asshole who “didn’t support developers”. And he was right about the asshole part But it quickly became clear that he was upset that I didn’t support the company itself. It’s bootlicking all the way down.
That last one is probably not a great anecdote for your partner, but goddamn it really lays bare how much the whole “support artists” thing is bullshit for so many people
As someone whose affinity group irl is mostly anarchists, I feel like anarchists on Twitter are just significantly more centrist than anarchists irl
I don’t even understand the stereotype. “Globalists” is a right wing dogwhistle for “jews”. I’ve never heard leftists use the term derogatorily. If we wanna talk shit about western hegemony or NATO, we use those terms directly.
If I am ever lined up against the wall and shot, I’m gonna be pissed about being in the same line as Twitter liberals
Where are all the stories of climate activists getting arrested while attempting to bypass museum security? How are all of these stunts so successful?
That was Reddit. Related to
