  • “What makes you think I sit here in silence?“

“Im stuck living with people who think anyone that is a shade of brown is less than human and that having an immigration policy is silly when we have guns and ammo. I cant reach these people and help them see that it cant be simplified in to black and white by calling them stupid and being dismissive of their feelings and now their identity has been tied into their “political” team.”

Considering you are still living with them, still describing them as racists, but are too afraid to call them racist…

“ I just use a different tactic to try to win over my neighbors”

And we can see how well that’s working out for you

Silence is complicity. From your own descriptions you are coddling people who would kill anybody who’s not white and you want to come in here, handwringing and taking up all the oxygen in the discussion because your feelings were hurt because you respect Bernie.

I guess someone who’s too afraid to call a racist a racist WOULD look up to Bernie.

  • I’m in the same boat, so to speak. Recently had a life altering injury that put me out of a job and on month 6 of the search. And my birthday’s just around the corner too!

I hope your birthday went well, and if it hasn’t happened yet I hope you make time for yourself to do something you want without any expectations.

In regards to the mental aspect, I’m really proud you’ve found the courage for therapy, and engaging with it so that it can be helpful. I need to make that decision myself.

Don’t forget to silence the inner naysayer every so often. You’re allowed to enjoy things that don’t make you a better work slave, and now’s your chance to find those things that you enjoy.

For me, things are getting better, albeit slowly. I’ve had to remind myself that mentally it’s like preparing for a race; not every run is going to be your best time. And some days it will rain and be shitty and feel like nothing got accomplished, but you still went out there and did the things you were scared of/didn’t feel like you could do. Patience and perseverance, my friend.

  • I think it’s just a game cashing in on people who haven’t played Nintendo games. For these people the gameplay loop is something new.

I have seen a few locations that are just straight up dark souls/elden ring locations, made just different enough to get past laws.

A consideration is it will make game devs argue to be able to patent (I’m not a lawyer parasite idk the right word) game mechanics more harshly. You know capitalists would love to be able to sue the pants off any other game that competes with them in the same genre by saying “your health bar/ sword looks too similar to ours, pay up”

  • Hello! So, I did a quick cursory glance of the hero kids system, but likely missed some things, so please reach out if you have any questions.

The easiest way to convert 5e modules to a 2d6 based system:

The lowest you can roll on 2d6 is a 2, and the highest a twelve. So, we convert 5e’s 1-20 numbers to fit that. (Ability modifier in parentheses)

    2d6 stats vs 5e stats

    2 (-5) = 0 and 1

    3 (-4) = 2 and 3

    4 (-3) = 4 and 5

    5 (-2) = 6 and 7

    6 (-1) = 8 and 9

    7 (0) = 10 and 11

    8 (+1) = 12 and 13

    9 (+2) = 14 and 15

    10 (+3) = 16 and 17

    11 (+4) = 18 and 19

    12 (+5) = 20

Example conversion: In 5e, an orc has an Armor Class of 13, Hit Points of 15, gets + 5 to its attack roll, and deals 9 damage on a hit.

In this 2d6 system, it’s armor would be 8 (need to roll above an 8 to harm it) hit points would be 9, gets +4 to its attack roll, and deals 6 damage on a hit.

Using these conversions, it should be pretty easy to add new monsters or bad guys from DnD 5e modules. There’s a few free ones on dndbeyond to look over that may help give ideas for quests! I highly recommend Frozen Sick.

  • Hi! I sort of came back here after seeing this post and a couple comments before it and just wanted to kind of speak to a bit of this.

“Was bi sexual who later became pan sexual after learning about the term”

I do not necessarily understand/agree with the way this is phrased. You didn’t become pansexual by learning about the term, you just discovered a definition that was personally more accurate to your understanding of your sexuality. Which is awesome! Like, I wouldn’t say I became bisexual by learning about the definition, ie I have always been attracted to more than one gender identity.

Shiri Eisner writes a book, “Bi: Notes for a Bisexual Revolution“ that talks a great deal about how we must have intersectionality, especially between Bi and Trans people. It reflects a lot of my disdain for people who claim to be bi but are trans-exclusionists. I recommend this book to a lot of queer friends, especially those who are bi/pan, because we should also have solidarity, celebrating our similarities and differences. Posting a link to an excerpt here: https://radicalbi.wordpress.com/2011/02/22/words-binary-and-biphobia-or-why-bi-is-binary-but-ftm-is-not/

As far as the acronym/etc, I refer to the “third chair” argument near the end of the link posted above. I’m familiar with LGBTQIA+, and I think TPAN is fantastic to use when referring to situations experienced by members of those communities, but not others within the queer community.

I support our trans comrades and I support you as well, my pan friend. ☭

  • Will try to keep this all organized;

Stories, no, except for really old fanfic that I’m not pleased with the quality anymore. Mods; I was a voice actor for Autumn Leaves, a New Vegas mod that was really fun. Most of my other stuff is private bc I didn’t have regular access to internet till I was 18. Campaign if you’re interested I have session notes and the like, but it’s just the falloutification of Southern Illinois (Soil, I called it).

As someone who played the older games first, I LOVED Boulder dome. Essentially the mod was reintroducing a bunch of themes and characters from Fallout 3 (no, not that one. The cancelled one, Van Buren; which now exists as Project Van Buren. I definitely recommend checking it out if you like isometric games) also in BBD there’s cats, and the legion/ncr conflict spills over here. Determined place in timeline 2277, same as New Vegas.

Canon enough, I’d say. I still consider Fallout Tactics and Fallout Brotherhood of steel canon until proven otherwise, so I’m a little biased.

You’d probably have a good time reading the Fallout Bible if you haven’t yet. Tons of world building lore from the original creators in it.

As far as Fallout 1-2, tactics, and BoS, it’s complicated. If you’re familiar with games in that genre, like Baldur’s Gate, Planescape Torment, etc you’ll probably really enjoy them. At the same time, modern gaming has spoiled us (I have to have the aim down sights mod for fallout 3, for instance because I got too used to it), and some people consider it a slog. While I have your ear though I’d highly recommend Underrail (inspired by fallout), Wasteland series (inspired fallout), and Nuka Break if you haven’t seen it yet (on YouTube)
