Computers and the internet gave you freedom. Trusted Computing would take your freedom.

I tried TP-Link Deca, but the mesh refuses LAN communication if the router doesn’t have a constant and stable connection to the internet
that’s ridiculous
“ohhh, our wake word detector is a little too sensitive, but don’t mind it!”
because the game itself wants to load the steamapi program library and connect to the steam client. but there is no encryption or other heavy protection involved. grab a steamemu (like the famous goldberg emu), install it for the game (basically copy/replace a file) and done
a few weeks ago I have seen watchdogs legion in a few streams an liked it. Recently it had a sale (maybe now again) but saw that it uses denuvo, the ubisoft launcher and that it needs a ubisoft account. no thank you. I’ll rather pirate it and be reassured that it’ll have less malware in it
Inconvenience for us. but that’s not my point. I’m pretty sure that really works for lots of people, who actually start using apps because it’s on the home screen already.
it could be one eternetity later as well. I mean, it’s google, and 10 years old devices
so the other person wanted to mean that most of us are probably not interested in participating in the shithole that was formerly called twitter
because from time to time it raises a false alarm about known good apps like kde connect
that is a very sudden increase, what happened then?
I mean this whole chart is 3 months, that big increase is under a week
if that was possible, it would be relatively easy to defeat them on windows too
phones are made for mindless media consumption. just look at the home screen of a factory resetted phone. facebook, instagram, tiktok, and other literal garbage too is not just installed, but pinned to the home screen by default
oh, something has changed! that’s interesting.
I can’t find the plugin I first discovered this with, but this basically demonstrates it: https://github.com/notjosh/yt-dlp-GlobalCyclingNetworkPlusDRMWorkaround

your experience as a lemmy moderator?
that is not “speaking plainly”
oh, no, I hear it John Lemmy is just around the corner!
and I think it would be actually very useful if people made use of that setting
git hooks! Totally forgot it, that sounds interesting
I mine mostly because I like the technology, and have (already paid for) CPU cycles spare.
ok but that doesn’t explain why you want to do it alone. It’s no worse in a pool
Plus, doing it without a pool is a bit like playing the lottery.
is that an advantage?
I should run a node, and in the “pool” section of the xmrig config, point to localhost?
I assume. I never did that, though and I don’t know mymonero. but if it were me, I would run the official monero gui wallet, as it is trusted by the community, works good enough, and has an embedded monero node. or featherwallet, but that cannot run a node for you.
running a node will require a lot of storage space, though. if storage usage becomes toohigh, you can prune it so that you get back 2/3 of the space
these are surveillance machines on wheels, with so many cameras. as much as I hate it, I would be surprised if they couldn’t find out who did it
