You’re saying it yourself: the slop would end up on Youtube. The goal should be to build an audience off of youtube. A donating audience on the fediverse could be a replacement for their ad revenue on youtube, but they have to at least start putting their content on the fediverse. If they owned and instance federated, they could be in charge of which instances they federate with defederate from slop-instances. They’d have the power. On youtube, they have none.

I know that they make money on youtube, OK, but why haven’t they started diversifying and uploading their stuff to the fediverse? Or teamed up with other content creators to put some money into peertube so that they can make it their own platform and control what gets on there (in other words, get rid of the AI slop)?

Europe has been doing the minimum to support Ukraine. Where are the Taurus missiles? Why is Europe still buying Russian gas? Why hasn’t Europe been boarding and stopping Russian shadow fleet tankers since the beginning of the war? Why did Europe lift the restrictions on the range of their weapons until Ukraine has built the tech themselves? What were the feeble responses to Russian interference and drones far in European airspace? Why are we still letting in Russians at our borders?

I could go on. The European strategy seems to be to keep the war going as long as possible in order to test new war tech at the expense of human lives. Our rulers are just hiding behind “oh, we spent billions” while forcing Ukraine to fight with an arm tied behind their backs.

And what will they do? Same as after Crimea, just try and strengthen their bond with Russia? Kneel to the height of Pootin’s crotch?

I agree with the rest, but I disagree with this: before 2014, Europe could’ve done something - anything to prevent Russia marching in. It didn’t. Until the major war broke out, Angela Merkel’s approach and that of the rest of Europe was the wrong approach to prevent further Russian escalation. The entire continent went pussy and just tried to become friends with Russia instead of standing up to them (and Pootin in particular).

NATO could’ve said “alright, now we invest in military”, it didn’t.

Germany could’ve said “now we go off of Russian gas and sanction them”, it didn’t.

The entire western EU could’ve just listened to the Baltics and Poland regarding the danger Russia posed. It didn’t.

A strong EU, I believe, would’ve scared Russia away.

Someone will make a hack to unblur faces and it’ll be back to square 1.

There’s nothing worse than an animal backed into a corner. If Pootin really things this, he’ll do anything to win, maybe even things like attacking NATO or ordering that an atom bomb be dropped on Ukraine. Let’s just hope the upper class in Russia forces him to the end the war before that happens.
