It goes to show how chaotic global warming is/will be. We were told that the east coast would get more hurricanes and warmer winters. Those predictions have proven true. But now we also get polar vortices and unusually low-activity/late hurricane seasons (probably thanks to el niño). These events then overshadow the slower steady warming (which is actually lightning-fast compared to other climate changes humans have lived through).
I think that website is just very old, so they made everything as images instead of trying to get chinese characters rendering on early browsers.

That’s 16 confirmed dead. Those are people whose names are known, and presumably body recovered. There’s more than 500 missing in one of the most remote regions of the world. That’s an acknowledged disaster.
In one case, a user identified only as Zhang disputed the official death toll, posting: “Clearly thousands of people were swept away, yet the authorities reported only three deaths and 265 people missing.”
Excellent reporting. No follow up on what village this is or its population. JNo satellite imagery. No names of the unofficial missing. Not even a correction of the incorrect number of people missing! Just one anonymous post and a gut feeling.
Also, 300+ buildings destroyed is the same order of magnitude as 500+ missing.

To many Americans who have watched decades of drone strikes against non-state groups the executive branch has described as terrorists and determined the U.S. military can lawfully target, the boat strikes might seem like business as usual. But they are distinct. Notwithstanding the many valid criticisms of the ways in which executive branch lawyers have interpreted the AUMF, the drone strikes against al-Qaeda and its affiliates were at least tethered to that congressional authorization and, generally speaking, part of actual wars.

I checked, and it’s on F Droid! Lately I’ve been using OSMAnd, which is very similar. It’s nice that it feels like a map, not an advertising platform. But that does make it harder to find things, especially small businesses.
