You not only failed to meet the moment, but you failed to even realize that there WAS a moment - let alone that it was an absolutely pivotal one. You were so devoted to the status quo that you couldn’t conceive of anything outside of it.

You can pick ETFs that are targeted on foreign assets in particular fields, or non-US companies that are traded in US markets. Or you can get stuff in actual foreign markets if you wish, as well as opening foreign currency denominated accounts. There are a number of ways to do it.

To be honest, if a country is gonna implement a draft or some form of compulsory service requirement, it should be gender neutral, and apply to their citizens universally, with no bearing on gender identity. Honestly, it’s disingenuous and untrue to pretend that the orange regime and orangeboi are maintaining the status quo ante. They’re demonstrably not. That’s not me defending the US or its foreign policy and history thereof (especially in the Cold War) - I’m just saying that being reductively naive about these things meaningfully understates how fucking idiotic and destructive the regime is in so, so many dimensions.

I’m also conflicted and still a little bit skeptical because of the DNCs history of political hit jobs on candidates that don’t toe the party line. Janet Mills kick started that pretty and broadly aggressively when Platner challenged her in the primary. And the DNC also kneecapped Al Franken over some (ultimately essentially bullshit) allegations, and he was one of the most incisive, effective, intelligent, and responsive-to-constituents senators in recent memory.

So, yeah, this situation is fucked; but I’d be shocked if some DNC establishment characters aren’t playing fucky-fuck games in the background, because those guys absolutely fucking hate progressives - demonstrably more than they hate fascists, even (which is a big part of the reason that I’ve largely lost all faith in the Democratic Party as an organization).

My knee-jerk reaction is that this has the smell of a political hit-job… but at the same time, apparently Politico (possibly additional outlets, but I found a specific citation mentioning this) has been granted access to contemporaneous email correspondence between the alleged victim and her therapist, and has confirmed that the correspondence appears to be credible and accurate.

Side note: if this was a republican, none of this would matter. That’s not a plea to ignore this, or victim blame - I’m simply pointing out the flagrant double-standard.
