I do find this part mildly concerning, as it entangles a browser extension with a desktop extension…

Grouping 8 bits (or other grouping of bits) out of an endless sequence of truly random 50/50 bits will show a bias towards chaos, not solid patterns like 00000000 or 11111111.

I mean yeah it’ll happen occasionally, but I think it’s way less likely than pure noise, where half the bits are zero and half the bits are one…

Allow me to take a different, simpler perspective on this subject of randomness…

I just tried a simple experiment, simply flipping a coin 8 times. The results should give me a random byte, right?

Not particularly. My coin flips gave me ‘Heads, Tails, Heads, Tails, Tails, Tails, Heads, Tails’

That gives me the binary sequence of ‘10100010’

Now, it would seem this should be fairly random, but one byte of information should have an equal randomness of the numbers from 0 trough 255. Should…

But it almost certainly will not. It’ll produce something closer, if not basically identical, to the Bell Curve in statistics. You’re almost guaranteed the lowest chances of generating ‘00000000’ or ‘11111111’ using such a simple binary coin flip for each bit. Not to say it won’t happen, it’s just less likely in the long run experiment.

As I conclude this comment, I flipped it once more. Heads.

Random relevant story time…

When I was 10 years old, in 4th grade English class, we were reading some silly short book where everything in the world basically worked backwards. Of course we all understood it was all silly nonsense, but it was fun for us around that age and kept the students attention.

Well, part of it regarded the alphabet being backwards. Now of course the teacher didn’t expect us to remember that, nor did she grade us on that, but she took a moment in class to make it random fun, and asked the class if any of us could even try to say our ABC’s backwards…

Around 5 o 6 students raised their hand and tried, but the best they got was about 5 letters in. What was I doing the whole time? Memorizing, in a compartmental sort of mode.

So, after about 5 minutes, the teacher was ready to move on. But then I raised my hand…

Straight from my fresh memory banks, no looking at the page or anything else:

Everyone was astounded, even me LOL! I learned it backwards in all of about 5 minutes!

Now I’m 43, going on 44. I still remember it to this day, guess I burned it into my long term memory.

Let me finish by saying this much, please please do NOT try to do this, it’ll fuck up your entire concept of sorting words alphabetically! I mean yeah I’m good with language, spelling, letters, grammar, etc, but if you give me a list of 10+ words to sort alphabetically, without a computer of course, it’ll end up taking me like 3 times longer to sort out, as I have to remind myself which order the alphabet actually goes.

Back in the day, I dinked around with the Windows registry, and found one value under the Recycle Bin CLSID key that you can change a couple of flag bits, to enable Rename and even Delete in the right click context menu of the Recycle Bin, and both actually work LOL!

Once the Recycle Bin is deleted though, it doesn’t just stop working, it just disappears from the Desktop, and can only be restored in another area of the registry under the Desktop NameSpace key by adding the Recycle Bin CLSID back.

Definitely not safe, so very understandable that Microsoft (before the slop era of course) would disable deletion of the Recycle Bin. I have no idea why they’d also disable the ability to Rename the Recycle Bin though, I’d always enable that flag bit, so I could rename it to Shit Can Hahaha!

Umm, there was that one dude that intentionally cemented his head in a microwave oven, and there were not one but two people that put Gorilla Glue in their hair. And then there was that whole Tide Pod challenge…

Which, if any, is a true lower bound, I’ll leave that to the reader to contemplate, but yeah there’s no shortage of stupid out there…

Class Identifier {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} (Recycle Bin) did not appear until Windows 95. I’m pretty sure they should be referring specifically to Windows 11, as it’s still receiving updates.

All seriousness aside, let me inform you that if you install any variation of the Calmira Shell in Windows 3.11, and indeed it does actually come with an equivalent Recycle Bin functionality, though it wasn’t programmed by M$, so you should be safe 👍

Anyways, M$ seems to have shot themselves in both feet in recent years, so I recommend you throw Windows into the Trash (don’t recycle), and install Linux instead…

My Android devices have never been logged into Google, and the tablet I’m posting from has no SIM card, so it has no phone number.

They have no record of a phone number for me, because I’ve never signed into Google on any active Android device.

Edit: I also have Google Play and Services, and most other Google apps disabled. FOSS for the win! They really don’t have any phone number for me.

Wood with charcoal on top will indeed burn like that. Note, as another commenter mentioned, the black charcoal stain to the left on the pavement.

Someone had to have placed charcoal or perhaps just plain sticks or whatever on top of the table to start a fire. Noting the light circular ring around the burn area, that suggests the flame was covered by a circular object, such as a pot or pan, and the heat traveled outwards in a circular manner rather than upwards.

• There’s not nearly enough sunlight literally under the shaded pavilion for that to happen.
• Another commenter pointed out the charcoal dust stain on the pavement to the left, plus there’s an almost perfectly circular ring around the burn site, suggesting heat was travelling evenly sideways around a circular object above, such as a pot or a pan.
• Nobody runs an extension cord over to that corner of the pavilion, the only plug is on the very opposite corner of where this occurred at.

So, my spidey senses still believe that some idiot placed a rack, a pot or pan, and some coals right on the table to cook some food.
