Why is it that just doing their job excuse or just following orders tends to be associated with questionable actions as opposed to positive ones? It’s starting to seem like a red flag if those two phrases get used for an action.

Same with them simping for people who put in no term limits, one party systems, and want to invade countries that don’t consent to it. Pretty much all the reasons to hate Trump.
I really don’t get it. Aren’t communists supposed to be power to the people for the people, and have the government fear the people as opposed their weird fascist movement they claim is communism? You’d think they’d push for stuff like rank choice voting to try to increase multiple parties, term limits, and government officials afraid of the people and politicians being imprisoned for corruption.
Not some return to a monarchy with a cult of personality they simp over like some slaves who want a master, and giving up the people’s power hoping to believe in the idea of a benevolent dictator. That these tankie figure heads are living lavish lives of luxury while the rest of the society in their so called communist country don’t is ridiculous to me. Just looks like money hungry pigs to me, but they get some scraps and think its communism while their lords live in multiple mansions.
Thanks to your comment I just realized tankies are basically MAGA overseas. Both share love of dictatorships and are ultranationalists who fall heavy into the cult of personality, and also drink the koolaid just as hard as MAGA do about what the dear leader and party tells them to believe.

I’ve seen people say setting vpn to serbia or albania will have ads not show on twitch. Worked the few times I tested it out, but what country ads don’t run might have changed.

Not that surprising since on reddit the proton-team account stated the same positions as Andy did on Twitter before deleting after they saw the message wasn’t taken well. They didn’t bother to distance it as opinions of Andy, but took the stance of it being an organizational opinion.
And you can see reddit user responses bringing up Slater’s background but being ignored. Kind of funny the medium article writes an essay and does so much research into showing how Andy isn’t racist, but doesn’t do any research on Slater.

He throws out how something is the best or the worst and makes up false facts and figures and his followers takes him at his word. Same applies to many of his inner circle like RBK with what is supposed to be science.
What else is it at that point other than faith? Its not grounded in facts but belief. Bringing evidence is dismissed as fake news because the movement doesn’t care about that. It has the usual hallmarks of religion in my eyes.

That anonymously submitted medium article that gets floated around ignores Internet Association, so wouldn’t be shocking if it was from proton attempting to do PR damage fixating on identity politics with intentional omission of Internet Association involvement.
Yen conveniently ignored that after working at the FTC, Slater become the vice-president for legal and regulatory policy for the Internet Association lobby group. Which was founded by “small business” like Google, Amazon, eBay and Facebook.
And involved in trying to infringe upon privacy rights. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2019/09/lawmakers-must-not-let-internet-association-weaken-california-consumer-privacy-act
So yeah, proton founder cherry picked information that tried to make it seem like it was acceptable to praise the pick when reality her past is too murky to endorse.
Apple Tim Cook showed that ideology doesn’t matter when monetary greed is involved, so falling to look how not intolerant Yen just comes off as a diversion from the criticism regarding him choosing to praise Slater by omitting details of her history that didn’t fit the pro consumer narrative for the little guy.

If you really want to see alt right opinions that much just go use Twitter, tiktok, and youtube and the algorithm will adjust to show you the content you are so desperate to see.
Heck go use reddit. If you want diverse opinions that much go use a mainstream platform.

Lets ignore Canada almost choosing a prime minister that ran on US style culture war politics or Europe trying to push things like chat control or Germany with a growing alt right movement. Yeah its a roses everywhere in the world.
Lets give the alt right more of a voice its turned out so well.

And we’ve seen two times what listening to maga and giving people like that a platform to discuss results in. Trump being elected twice and maybe a third in the future.
We have actual real world events of how ineffective it is with networks giving Trump huge coverage when he first appeared.

Yeah it worked out so well for America that they elected Trump twice and his style of politics has become more popular. But, I’m sure you can do what a nation and the people opposing him failed to do of changing minds through discussion.
How about starting with something easy first like convincing antivaxers to change their minds.

Lets not forget how networks underestimated Trump and led to him getting a lot of coverage, and it resulted in him gaining in popularity to get elected his first term to spread the infection.
That’s the mistake the left keeps making. They think logic can win out against effective faith based movements founded upon hate with a belief a higher power is on their side. And they waste time debating against something that appeals to the averge person who is desperate and angry. Which is why facism is trending.

Haha. That’s the mistake the left keeps making. They think a cult can be reasoned with and keep giving them a platform to talk to them and spread their gospel. Thinking logic can beat faith bases hatred attributed to a higher power. That’s why they keep expanding.

I used to think the same but now I want custom Roms even more now than in the past for things like GrapheneOS with the desire to lessen involvement with Google or Apple.

I don’t think there is one that has the clean old OnePlus feel. I still liked them until the custom ROM support died out for follow up devices to keep it going beyond the official OS support, since the hardware was solid.

They peaked with the OnePlus 7 pro. Loved the pop up camera to provide a true full screen experience without pinhole or notches. Beautiful design.

Woke became a simple label for people who blamed women and minorities for their entertainment not living up to their explanation. It became a label for them to use without specifically saying that they didn’t like depictions in the media they liked, which is a big reason they shy away from actually elaborating on what they mean by woke.

I thought it wasn’t necessarily due to a lack of attempt to reach them through games, but that they saw “woke” as a reason for why games or movies turned out bad.
So not necessarily a hey fellow kids we play games too, but outrage over the medium they like flopping or not turning out how they wanted.
Like the amount of right wing reviewers for Star Wars and so on blaming woke targetting for why their franchises turned bad, and turning it into a culture war.

Who wants a free final trip to El Salvador?
Complimentary remarks to Republicans depicting them as a party open to being privacy respecting and respect for the rule of law. Took the Joe Rogan hand book of trying to sane wash the Republicans and downplay concerns regarding them while trying to come off as moderate.
And it aged terribly. Someone who went to Harvard and spent significant time in the US wasn’t blind to what those way less educated than him saw when it came to the direction the US was headed towards before Trump officially took office.
He was rightfully criticized because Trump never hid his intentions during the election, so people were not impressed by the pandering like all the current tech bros part of the Trump inner circle.
