I agree with the people pointing out that rich people encouraging veganism is hypocritical as hell.

But on the other hand, it’s kinda true. In the current system, it’s one of the best things to do, while also fighting to overthrow capitalism in the long term.

Also, you can be vegan and buy stuff like oatly, beyond and so on, or you can buy rice and beans. Either is better for the planet (and very much for the animals, probably also you) than meat, but the former a bit less.

There are toothpastes with B12, that makes it very easy to not forget and my blood levels seem fine since over 2 years :)

Ich denke mir einfach, dass so ein neuer Batteriezug auch nicht ganz günstig sein wird und es besser wäre, die Batterie stationär zu haben. Dann könnte sie für alle Züge genutzt werden oder auch für anderes. Aber vlt. geht es darum, eine Übergangslösung zu haben und Emissionsvorgaben zu erreichen.

Fairerwesie muss man auch sagen, dass die Züge ja dann auch auf anderen Strecken eingesetzt werden können, welche sich wegen geringer Auslastung nicht zu elektrifizieren lohnen. Mich wunderte es hier (ohne die Region zu kennen), dass eine Strecke zwischen zwei doch relativ grossen Orten nicht eh schon elektrifiziert ist, bzw. jetzt nur mit Batterie.

I agree and only meant if you wanted to post in !solarpunk@slrpnk.net. Because in my opinion, it is about solrapunk theory and how services can be provided and governed. But it would need some context about theory, at least for me, since I’m not too deep into governance concepts.

I think it’s not about technology itself, but about (corporate) governance of tech companies and therefore not fitting very well in this community (but the post can stay imho). However, I find !selfhosting@slrpnk.net less suitable. To be honest, the main !solarpunk@slrpnk.net would be adequate in my opinion. Maybe it would need to be contextualized better: Why do you think this is a solarpunk approach to governance? Are there examples that work like that? What could go wrong? And so on to give it more depth and not just be a “news” link

Drogenabhängigkeit verändert das Gehirn physisch

Klar verändert sich das Gehirn (auch physisch, was u.a. auch Depressionen begünstigen kann), bei gewissen Drogen einfach noch stärker, da chemisch direkt in die neuronalen Prozesse eingegriffen wird.

Aber es geht doch darum, negative Auswirkungen zu verhindern/verkleinern (analog z.B. Methanol bei Gebranntem). Es geht ja gerade explizit nicht darum, etwas zu verbieten, sondern zu regulieren, um den Schaden einzudämmen, was bei Drogen m.M.n. auch sinnvoll ist.

Technisch gesehen sind neuronale Netzte keine Alogrithmen, aber ja da hast du recht. Potentiell könnte man fordern, dass z.B. nur nachvollziehbare Algorithmen benutzt werden dürfen.

Zwischen “gerne verwenden” und “süchtig danach sein” ist schon noch ein grosser Unterschied. Die Firmen machen das ja komplett absichtlich.

Warum nehmen Menschen Drogen, obwohl sie ihnen schaden? Die meisten möchten keine Drogen nehmen (müssen), aber man ist halt abhängig.

Ist bei social media ähnlich. Kenne viele, die sagen, sie würden es gerne nicht/weniger nutzen, tuns aber trotzdem.

Kommt halt auf die entsprechende Regulierung an. Ich stelle mir z.B. vor, dass die Algorithmen offengelegt werden müssen (erfüllt Open-Source ja sowieso) oder dass andere Regulierungen erst ab grossen Nutzerzahlen greifen wie z.B. 1M Nutzer. Das würde im Fediverse nur mastodon.social treffen. Kann aber auch noch höher sein.

I’m not from the US and am always a bit confused with juries. Do I understand correctly that basically random people called for jury duty found her guilty to the charges (brought by Perdue)? Would they have any wiggle room beside guilty/not-guilty? Will the possible jail time be set by a judge or also the (same?) jury?
