Inku’s torture was fiendish indeed!

Pretentiousness went on for too long.
The episode did finish up well, by throwing out the formula established in previous episodes.

I was fully expecting a beach episode to break out, but apparently thwarted until next episode maybe.
I liked how the Nigata trip was just quickly done in flashbacks.
@Rottcodd@ani.social is right though, get back in the cars already!

Another article with more information about the man himself: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/aonishiki-sumo-wrestling-ukraine-refugee-b2914456.html
That was pretty standard.
The joke being that the minion commander was out sick and they just played his speech on tape, got Hopeman to agree, to allow the episode ritual to continue.

Wow, huge numbers of downvotes.
Maybe this /c skews older, because tattoos are normalized for those younger folks aged 20-30s.

If there’s an overarching plot other than Yuki abusing her plot armor to reach 99 death games, it hasn’t shown up yet.
But the prospect of other surviving contestants appearing on later games to screw things up is intriguing.

The military and clergy leadership are both completely awful.
That really takes away the reason to root for our heroes to win, and changes it for them to escape.
Interesting info about the goddesses, but it seems like their powers are quite specific and limited.

I wanted that exact same screenshot!

“The important part was the friends we made along the way” a recurring theme in this show.

At least it’s not a recap…

That wasn’t too bad for a filler episode…
Kanata’s status as a non-native is explored, planned upgrades to the car to make it better suited for the next course, and to keep up with all the other competitors.

I’m not really sure why Yuuji and Megumi are joining Fight Club, or why Panda is there, but the “fight” was somewhat amusing.
The bit about cursed corpses was interesting, but again, the story leading up to that felt random and insufficiently explained.
The show might have taken a turn to where the audience beyond simply watching, is entirely dependent on their own researchinto the lore and plot to figure out what is going on.

I watched the Aldnoah Zero The Penultimate Truth OVA, and… it’s boring.
More or less a snapshot of what happened to our characters after S2, it’s nothing unexpected, but nothing entertaining either.

To be fair, most of the participants appear to survive each game.

Just catching up, and this show’s title caught my eye.
As expected, this is survival horror suspense, with “how will she get out of this” moments of suspense.
An interesting theme is the “preservative” effect that turns the participants blood into something that looks like plushie stuffing, and conveniently immediately stops all bleeding.
So for example, a severed limb looks like it was ripped off a plush doll.

The inspiration is very much from the SaW movies.

The art style is very different, being light on the lines and heavy on textured surfaces, giving it a… cinematic feel?
If you liked Alice In Borderland, this is in the same kind of genre.

Strangely enough, the military plane was diverted to Ukraine, the passengers all volunteered to join the Army, and none of them came back from the front line!

So far the best 2 characters have been Norgalle and the oddly Japanese-named Tatsuya.
Norgalle is a big guy, but it was fun to watch him do this:

It did feel contrived when Xylo ran out of energy, while Tatsuya had been doing most of the fighting, was still flying around, and even doing his Popeye act.

Implausible heroics like Norgalle and Tatsuya were doing were fun to watch, and something I like to see from animated heroes.
On the downside, the story hasn’t found its feet yet, and I’m not sure that it’s going to.
Rolling from one battle story arc to the next with our cynical hero, annoying goddess is okay, but already feels wearisome.
So pluses and minuses…
Considering the quality of this season, the animators’ fingers must be worn down to the nubs!
Take a well deserved break people!
