I’ve tried connecting to Lemmy.ca from other instances, but it doesn’t seem to work.

Is this just a growing pains thing?

Edit: For example I can’t subscribe to communities on lemmy.ca from kbin.social.

I also can’t connect to any communities on Lemmy.world.

Yes, please elaborate - sometimes the federation concept can be confusing to users who are newer to the fediverse, I think we can guide you if you elaborate on what you are trying to achieve

I’m trying to connect to Lemmy.ca from say kbin.social. I’ve tried every syntax doesn’t seem to work. Conversely I can’t find any of the kbin.social communities here either.

Same when looking for anything from Lemmy.world.

I’m also a complete noob, so that probably didn’t help!

I’ve heard there are federation issues between kbin.social and other sites now because of the Cloudflare protection.

there’s known issues with kbin.social and here, maybe it’s both ways, but from here to kbin for sure.

I tested a few things at lemmy.world, and it appeared to work. generally, if you search for any user/community/post/comment URL it should work. for example I copied the post URL for this post and it found it right away.
