Pro: Gators down bad
Con: Gators can easily supercede expectations
Or they can go full Florida Man and somehow disappoint even those who had no expectations
My ideal timeline
With the schedule they have, getting to six wins would make for a wildly successful season.
As a Gator alum, I think the general feel is that 6 would have us on track but not quite wildly successful. It would be beating the O/U of 5.5, but not enough to feel like we’d overcome anything unusual. 7 would be nice. If Billy gets to 8 or 9 with this bunch, he deserves an extension. 3-9 is not an insanely bad take if things go poorly though.
We need to win McNeese and Charlotte of course, but also Vandy, Arky, and Mizzou. Then, there are the “reasonable chance games” of Utah, Kentucky, and South Carolina. Get one of those, and there’s your 6. FSU is a rivalry-week wildcard where playing spoiler and pride are a bigger factors, so who knows, but they’re farther along in their rebuild. Tennessee, Georgia, and LSU do not look good.
Also, Jesus we have a lot of people who hate us.
After growing up through our decline I’m always wary of the gators. Florida voodoo is real. So if it makes you feel any better I still have the uf game as a toss up.
Excuse me, I’m just going to go wrap myself in the warm blanket of Derek Dooley and Jeremy Pruitt memories.
You know, I really liked this magazine until I learned you were a Florida fan. Why did you have to rob me of this?
Well, guess you’ll just have to post and comment more to drown out my rambling rants, fueled by a heady cocktail of bath salts and Gatorade (call it the face eater).
If it helps, and I concede it may not, I married a TCU alum and root for them just as much.
I grew up an LSU fan and went to Tennessee. Nothing can make a Florida fan good.
Don’t forget Butch Jones
