1337x admins allowing BG3 torrent with bitcoin miner stand after multiple reports in comments with proof, seems like the site lost it’s credibility. Suspicious that the user is also shilling to donate to 1337x, suspecting him being somehow affiliated with 1337x mods

    You see?

I’ve got so many of these discussions where people just devolve into name calling or accusatory statements

You are a prime example. The reply you are referring to is nothing but a calm reply to the person who countered my original statement. He mentioned one game and my reply just points out…there’s more than one game and his “point” only works in a narrow set of circumstances. Nobody is “shutting down” as you claim, I simply replied with a counter point.

But he brought up a good point…the game in question that this discussion is about does not have the VM issues you were talking about.

Plus based on your information at the start of the discussion about having GPU passthrough setup, it doesn’t sound like you actually have a lot of setup to do in order to have tried this out, which sort of also works against the argument of it being too much of a hassle for a game that will be cheaper down the line.

It really does seem more like doubling down than anything else. The discussion didn’t have any real point to keep going past “Doesn’t apply in this case”

Like you can argue that it affects other games, but you just completely dropped the point that the present discussion it does not apply to, like no acknowledgement whatsoever.

The present discussion was in direct reply to my own, which was not about any specific game as you claim. It was about game piracy in general. His original reply to me was started as an insult. From his insult, I replied calmly that I was speaking in a broader sense. Are you not following clearly or something?

The argument I’ve made, but somehow seems to have flown right over everyone’s heads (well, not everyone, just these weird few trying to start a fight?) is that spinning up VMs for game piracy is A: A bit much, because of the nature of the executables. You waste the overhead of another entire OS, plus the game, in an environment that isn’t as condusive to performance. B: Limited only to games which don’t have any kind of anticheat component, DRM, etc.

And while I can set this up pretty easily, I can easily surmise that there’s a smaller and smaller portion of people who have the technical know how to do such things the more complex you’ve gotta set up the software in order to remain secure. It’s easy for me to setup a VM. It’s still far less than optimal to spin up a fresh environment for a game every time I want to play something new, hence calling it bullshit. Because it is. It’s bullshit that I’ve gotta do that I otherwise wouldn’t need to in order to remain secure.
