Have been playing Cyberpunk so far and luckily this doesn’t happen often

    Just pop a non-glare screen protector on it, and it’s fine. It’s like a 5-10 $ problem.

People buying a twice as expensive model for a slightly different screen surface are just insane if you ask me. You can also install a proper 512gig SSD for like 60€ or so to get even on storage, also takes 5 minutes.

Well I for one am happy to fork over money to our steam overlords. I am Valve’s little money pig, and I will deliver.

M.2 2230 SSD, for anyone wondering. Just check reliability and speed of any given make/model.

Hey what’s double $399? Asking for a friend.

When I bought mine on sale it was 375€ or so. I think the 512 version with the different screen surface was 650. Is that double? No, but close enough for a side note in a casual comment. Say hi to your friend for me though, he seems nice.

          He’s insufferable. Trust me.

I ended up buying the 512 near launch. I typically don’t like screen protectors and when I bought it wasn’t quite as common to do the SSD swap. I don’t regret the decision but do recognize that I’m at a point in my life where spending a bit of extra money is worth it to avoid having to tinker.

At one point the Steam Deck design and engineering team strongly opposed installing a third party SSD for various reasons ranging from power draw to EMI. Is this still the case?

I’ve been a tinkerer since I was a child and have no problem tearing into electronics for the hell of it, but I also have the wisdom to listen to people who know more than I do. I’d rather not damage my expensive toy.

Meanwhile we have the 512gb version and put a glare protector on it 💀
