not this exact model though it looks the same, visually. really useful to have portable storage wherever I need it.
minus-squareMentalEdgelinkfedilinkEnglish4•edit-28 months agoThose are USB 2, then. That’ll be quite slow for moving iso’s onto and booting from. Not to mention for moving the files of a steam game. But yeah, the old solid state storage NAND in them is probably “built different”, literally.
minus-square@lauhalinkEnglish2•8 months agoSounds to me like you need an external ssd and not a usb drive. I recommend Asus TUF Gaming A1 nvme enclosure (~50€ where I live) and an ssd of your choice.

minus-squareMentalEdgelinkfedilinkEnglish1•8 months agoWhat? I don’t understand. USB mass storage drivers are an OS issue, one I don’t even think about as a linux user. If you mean firmware, that’s gonna be tricky to update on drives that are straight up dead and no longer even detected.
