    The USSR would never invade the US though. It was just a credible threat to global capitalism and imperialism.

        We also had a ridiculous amount of tanks next to the Fulda Gap. And we put a lot of nazis who were previously involved in the invasion of the USSR in NATO and west German positions.

          Exactly, because NATO saw them as a credible threat.

          Hell, France’s stated doctrine if they did break through was to use tactical nukes on them in West Germany to halt the advance and to avoid turning more of their territory into red zones.
