& I’m doing pretty good! The wefwef app has done a great job of recreating the Apollo experience and has made it a lot easier to not want to go and download the Reddit app. The more active it gets here, the easier it’ll be. How are you guys doing so far? Have you found an App for Lemmy that you prefer the most yet?

  • Keep at it! I suspect these first few days will be the hardest. I uninstalled BaconReader last night and put “Connect for Lemmy” in its place on my home screen. So far it’s been a pretty easy transition!

Can confirm it gets easier. It definitely helps to have an app replacement so you can follow your normal reading, commenting, and posting routines. I jumped a while back and had to resist the urge to go back out of habit, but now I don’t even miss it.

Is it bad I feel the above feels like some 12 step program testimonial?

BaconReader will never be able to be replaced. I’m bouncing between Jerboa and wefwef for now, until I find a suitable BR replacement

Same here brother. I love that Jerboa is open source and available on F-Droid, but it acts up sometimes and only supports servers >= 0.18.0, so I’ve been bouncing until some more of the instances that I’m on catch up.

What drew you to BaconReader? I was a user by circumstance, really. The only real options back on the day were BR and RIF (I think Alien Blue was a thing at that time, but we all know how that turned out) and I just happened to go with BR and never switched.
I shouldn’t say that. I did give Sync a shot for the last couple months before the apocalypse, and it was pretty snazzy once I got used to it. Excited to see how their Lemmy app turns out!

It was so long ago. I remember trying a few of them, and just really liked the simplicity and functionality of BR. They never tried to be more than they were.
