Bad weather and poor visibility. Perhaps driving to fast. Those corners are something special but with bad weather… accidents happen, but when you don’t have clear visibility things can get worse very very fast. When such cars begin to slide you are just a passenger. Perhaps the new proposal to guide the water more down will help visibility.

This even comes after the track changed the run off on the corner to allow more space to be off the track during an incident. It’s an inherently dangerous corner. As sad as it is to lose such an iconic corner, I think you’re right. It probably needs to be re-profiled to make it safer in the rain.

From what I saw v’ant Hoff collided with another car outside of him which kept him on the track

The issue in both crashes was a disabled car on the racing line that another car couldn’t see, or just could avoid

Before the fatal crash you can see another car going off and sliding onto the racing line before gunning it off the track. If that car had of been disabled, it could have been hit broadside at speed as well

Maybe that whole area needs to be widened. Or, the cars need to be slowed down ahead of it, but that would greatly alter the character of the track
