CW: Some outdated language, maybe a joke at the expense of LGBT people but I don’t know enough context to know if the joke is punching down or not. The joke is referring to the “Daughters of the American Revolution” as the “Dykes of the American Revolution”, and It’s easy to read that as disparaging the Daughters of the American Revolution as lesbians, but I don’t know how radical Ochs is, he it could be that the joke is that dykes are cooler than the DAR? Idk, if anyone knows where he was on LGBT issues let me know.

I think Phil was cool with LGBT folks. Here is his live performance of Links on the Chain, and in the beginning he laments the purging of all the communists, socialists, and homosexuals from the unions. Always gonna upvote Phil Ochs tho, Chapo introduced me to him and I’ve been listening ever since. Fantastic artist who taught me about a bunch of things I’d never even heard of, like Ruben Jaramillo, William Worthy, the American invasion of the Dominican Republic. Great story teller and a committed guy.
