Smoked a 10lb Boston butt this past weekend to help feed some friends on a small “get away” cabin trip. Turned out pretty okay. Lessons learned, every time!

Fiancée tried a new baked bean recipe. I threw those on for a few hours too…

Finally ready to wrap and rest. 17hrs later!

Pulled and ready to disappear. And boy, did it.

If anyone has pointers on how to post in a sleeker or more proper manner, I’d love to learn. I’m just trying to post some content and not just waste my account.

OH, and if I could ever figure out how to make a community(?) I’d definitely post this in a Smoker one or something like that. Okay, enjoy the crappy pics of some pretty tasty grub!

I like big butts and I cannot lie.

Did you wrap it at any point in the cook, or 17 hours naked?

I’ve wrapped before, using the “Texas Crutch” at the ~165° stall, but no wrap this time, I just spritzed with apple cider vinegar every 30mins after the bark formed well enough, and waited her out ‘naked’ until 2am haha.

That looks fantastic! And I hear you on the learning. I’m gonna start writing down all my variables and observations. I smoked a tri-tip last Saturday, and while good, not quite there.

Hey, kudos for even attempting a tri-tip! Even a good one is pretty great!

And yep, I write down notes on every cook I can remember to do it for, and my Inkbird App/thermometer does a lot of that for me now. Thing is a godsend.

I have one of these in my fridge! I’m planning on cooking it sous vide though. The bark doesn’t get quite as good but it is so easy and tender when it’s done.

Also Beehaw does not allow users to create their own communities. It helps the communities we have keep more users and activity without having tons of small ones with hardly anyone participating. They add more every once in a while, but for now, you’re in the right place!

How the hell do I properly find and sub?? The only way I’ve learned how to search is by the bottom hamburger menu looking search thing on jerboa… I am so damn lost on this whole system. I can’t wait for a tutorial 😂

I can’t figure out how to do 80% of what I thought I knew!
