I’ve read all of your comments in this post. I’m deeply sorry that you’ve had to endure so much hardship. I hope you continue to find more and more wholeness in your life.

I’ve had several experiences that I would label ‘mystical’ or ‘otherworldly’. Those experiences changed me and continue to do so. I, also, learn a great deal from others that have had similar experiences. For example, the following from neurosurgeon Eben Alexander:

Those memories began in a primitive, coarse, unresponsive realm (the “Earthworm’s Eye View” or EEV) from which I was rescued by a slowly spinning clear white light associated with a musical melody, that served as a portal up into rich and ultrareal realms. The chants and hymns thundering down from those angelic choirs provided yet another portal to higher realms, eventually ushering my awareness into the Core, an unending inky blackness filled to overflowing with the infinite healing power of the all-loving deity at the source, whom many might label as God (or Allah, Vishnu, Jehovah, Yahweh – the names get in the way, and the conflicting details of orthodox religions obscure the reality of such an infinitely loving and creative source).

Fortunately for us, my wife is the sole bread winner and uses her 4-wheel drive SUV to get herself out and onto work. I just clear the snow at my own leisure. But yeah, the situation you described is very common and understandably very annoying.

I agree. One of my sons doesn’t want to use social media (he tried several and didn’t like any of them). My other son only uses Reddit to find interesting things and information in niche subjects (he rarely interacts with anyone on the platform).

That’s why I started and continued to talk to my two sons about it from a very young age (5 years old). Now they are teenagers and don’t have any online problems.

It’s somewhat funny how most Lemmy mods seem to discuss things on Discord or Matrix, rather than Lemmy (based on the chatter, though I am not a mod here so what do I know, really?).

Most of the time we need real-time chat (Mods on Discord) or real-time secure chat (Admins on Matrix).

A “Fraunhofer Society” refers to the overarching organization that manages a network of applied research institutes, while a “Fraunhofer Institute” is a single research unit within that network, focused on a specific area of study like materials science, healthcare, or digital technology; essentially, the Fraunhofer Society is the umbrella organization, and the Fraunhofer Institutes are the individual research centers under its governance.

They are credited with the creation of the MP3 format so maybe that’s where these supposed lawsuits are coming from?
